How can anyone not want Medicare for All?

My husband just celebrated being alive for a year after his heart attack. Unfortunately that anniversary comes with some surprising news. He was having some chest pain, went in for a stress test and now has to have exploratory heart surgery on Tuesday. The stress test showed a different quadrant of his heart struggling to pump blood. Here goes tens of thousands of dollars. The good news is he has Medicare with a supplementary policy. We will never see a single bill. Ironically he is the only one in the house who can afford to get sick. How any human being could oppose Medicare for All is beyond me.

Cool story bro.

Never see a single bill, so it's free right?

Doesn't she just need to change the batteries in her "husband?"

I suppose she just thinks his medical bills will get paid by a crapping unicorn.

They'd shit their pants if lifetime insurance was Medicare.  The allowable amounts are so low that huge sections of the provider community unless you have some sort of compementary or round-out coverage from a commercial provider.  It by no means is the 'Everything, ever' sort of Obamacare-mandated coverage that took away the option of just getting inexpensive catastrophic coverage from the young and fit.

If Medicare is so great, why are you paying for a supplement, DUmbass?

6. can i ask how much that supplemental plan costs.

Sure go ahead...
my friend who is older than her husband couldn't wait to get medicare. they were paying $720 through her employer for health insurance. now with medicare and supplemental they pay $710 and a few of their docs won't take medicare.

i have medicare. i took the cheapest supplemental i could which runs me $61.50 a month plus $18.20 for part D. my out of pocket max on the supplemental is $4850. don't have to worry about losing my house if bills get high. last year my out of poclket drug costs came to $970.

when my husband was alive IBM covered him. i paid $71.50. that covered drugs too. the out of pocket max was $6100. his medical bills ran in the millions but all i paid was $6100.

bottom line -- even with medicare you stilll need an insurance company. if we were to get medicare for all it should pay for everything.

sending positive energy to you and your husband

Free is expensive isn't it?

I know that this is a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway. When I look at my paycheck stub I see a deduction for medicare. I've been working steady full time for 35 years. I have 4 more years at least before I can apply for medicare so where is that money going?

Of course I know the answer to this question but I have not seen one post over at the DUmp where those who are supporters of medicare for all address where the money comes from now to pay for medicare. I also don't see were they question the cost (taken from medicare premiums and payroll deductions) to pay for the government workers at the social security department. Shouldn't all of their premiums go to making them well? But then again I speak of premiums knowing that most of them don't have that word in their vocabulary.
