A statement about Muslim women wearing Hijabs

There are lots of posters on other threads decrying the Hijab, specifically in the United States.
Lets be clear. The wearing of the Hijab is a VOLUNTARY ACT. Its undertaken by Muslim women who are demonstrating their dedication to Islam. Its a noble, courageous gesture that should be LAUDED, and not condemned.
::) After which a lot of talk about Orthodox Jews, etc.

Some of the hijabs i've seen are beautiful. I've even heard instances of non-Muslim women starting to wear them as a fashion statement.

The link shows models wearing fabric on their heads, but with bare shoulders. Not Islamic in the least.

Sorry but women have been wearing scarves, bandanas and turbans forever.
That doesn't mean they are embracing what your OP is pushing - that this is a noble religious act.
All in all, it doesn't go well for the resident Muzzie lover.

If it was voluntary, then many Muslim women would choose not to do it. Or not wear it on some days.
You are saying all Muslim women think alike (like robots), have no rebellious streaks, don't have moods where they want to change their appearance. Insulting.
The only way to make millions of women wear the exact thing every day is to force them.
You are an apologist for Islamic subjection of women's free will.

Even if you assume that these women are doing it voluntarily, which many people on DU don't think is true, what makes someone practicing the religion they were born into noble and courageous?
