Title: I am Giving the Libertarian Party a Look
Post by: FiddyBeowulf on May 04, 2016, 07:56:40 AM
With the results of last night's primary showing Trump will be the likely nominee I started to look into the LP to see what they have to offer. This is in case I do not feel like voting for the lesser of two democrats. The pro-freedom/liberty aspect of the party appeals to me-not so much the pro-weed. For now I am uncommitted.

I was reviewing their candidates for President and the only names I recognized were Gary Johnson and John McAfee.
https://www.lp.org/candidates/presidential-candidates-2016

At the bottom of the list of candidates was this blurb:
Quote
The Libertarian Party recognizes 2016 Presidential candidates who have campaign websites, are dues-paying members of the LP, have met all U.S. Constitutional requirements to serve in office as president, and are not running for the nomination of any other political party. They have also filed with the FEC, with the exception of Darryl Perry, who has chosen not to file, as a protest against the FEC, claiming that it lacks constitutional authority.
Now that is a Libertarian!!!

Well, I definitely will vote but not for either democrat so Libertarian it is.......or maybe I'll just write myself in.

Some people will say, "a vote for yourself is a vote for Hillary."

I guess that means you are the Nasty Grandma!

I have printed out my registration form to change my affiliation to "unaffiliated." At the point where we have to choose between a Clinton and her donor, I am done. Ready for a new party to take the GOP's place. If the libertarians grow and over take them...so be it.

The 1992 Libertarian candidate was Andre Marrou. I doubt his candidacy was a factor.
