Tornado spotted in west Omaha; wind damage reported

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Nancy Gaarder

4:13 p.m. update:

The tornado warning that the National Weather Service issued for the Omaha area was canceled at 4 p.m.

Michael Smith, general manager of Noodles & Co. near 132nd Street and West Dodge Road, said he and close to 10 employees and customers took shelter in the cooler.

He said he saw "a rotation" above the nearby Hy-Vee grocery store but wasn't sure it was a tornado. He saw "swirling clouds and a lot of lightning," he said.

People were not really frightened, he said, but a couple of children were somewhat shaken.

It is pouring rain, hail, and high wind here at our house. Update that we have had an inch of rain in 1/2 hour. Talk about loud thunder.

OS

Is there is a not tornado strong enough to throw your fat ass out of your recliner.

Good thing the Big Guy wasn't there to stuff himself into the cooler and fill the whole thing up by himself.

1. Stay close to that basement. It sounds scary, all right. Good luck.

Yeah.  I can see it now.  I'll bet the big guy's crying and clinging to Marta.....and having her lay on top of him so as to cover him.

2. I hope...

... you and Marty are in the storm cellar? Take care.

But really, not much concern shown for the big guy during his hour of peril.

3 replies, 278 views as of this post. No idea how many of those views are from actual DUmmies vs. Cavers checking on the primitives.

Also, Why was OS allowed to post that regional news in LBN? I thought Nadin always used to have her SD bush fire threads dumped because they were too regional.

Yeah, and especially since primitives are about as interested in Nebraska as they are about the price of soybeans in Burma.

I think the big guy gets away with breaking the rules--posting Nebraska news in "latest breaking news"--because of the pity factor; remember, he's terminal.

The tornado was in West Omaha and OS is living in Bellevue. Yes the warnings and watches covered most of Eastern Nebraska but From where the funnel could was spotted and where OS lives is at least ten to fifteen miles apart.
