4. There were 1,200 anti-gay hate crimes in the US last year.

I say this not to detract from this man's families tragedy, but as a point of solidarity; even in the country that likes to bitch other countries out for their human rights violations, we had 1,200+ anti-gay crimes here.

7. There's a lot of difference between writing fag on a Whole Foods cake

And getting chopped up with a machete

I know you are but what am I

which was a faked hate crime... like 11,999 of the others were...

9. I trust that attempts will be made to arrest and prosecute those who murder members of the LGBT community in the United States.

Let's see if the killers are rounded up so quickly in Bangladesh. I'm sure they've got them working in shifts down at the crime lab. That is if they aren't too busy throwing a party for them.

You learn something every day!

I thought all they did in Bangladesh was starve or drown.

Those Bangladeshlians must really be upset to not have a magazine about queers an bull dykes.

1200 gays were hacked to death in the US? Where?! Name the cities! Name the victims! Post non-activist sources for at least a sample of them! And I'll be nice, and give "Stryst" a hint: don't cite the lesbian from Lincoln, NE. Her cuttings were self-inflicted.

Once again the DUmmies conflate issues that are barely similar. If someone is publicly called a faggot in the US, that is equivalent to Muslims tossing queers off buildings or beheading them.

Impossible, people are sensible enough not to do that here. Why risk getting AIDS blood all over yourself?

H-5s earned and duly issued, th4 and loc80!

I guess I'm too old fashioned or something. To me, comparisons should be comparable, analogies should be analogous, and equivalencies should be equivalent.

In LibLand and ProgWorld definitions and facts are racist, sexist, or something-or-other-phobic, because meanings and facts interfere with their causes-of-the-month.

But it's that same rejection of facts and meaning that lead to atrocious absurdities such as Euro Women being told not to dress normally so as not to provoke Muslim "refugees" into sexual assaults (while US feminazis denounce common sense advice as victim-blaming!) and ignoring ME Muslims who throw gays off building roofs and raping 9-year-olds to death.

They're all in cooler trucks because the government doesn't want you to know about them.

And they're hanging in trees along the Texas coast, but the news media refuses to show it.

Let me ask you this. How many of these so-called hate crimes are hoaxes?

No homosexuals have been hacked to pieces, beheaded, stoned, or thrown off buildings in the United States.

The DUmmies must be in a quandary. A member of a protected group was chopped up by a member of another protected group.

Whose side will they take?

22. I think there's a little more nuance than that to it.

I don't think most liberals dismiss these abhorrent crimes, I think its just a build up of our own media ignoring or not giving as much importance to stories of LGBT abusive behaviour from authorities or private citizens that take place in our own communities. Its a reflective response. Like, if you are a good parent, you are naturally more angry and concerned about bad behaviour in your own kids, but are reluctant to criticize parents, at least publicly, of other kids who are misbehaving. And that it is more frustrating when you feel helpless watching States like N. Carolina's new bathroom law go forward, a State within your own country. So when a story breaks about anti-LGBT behaviour in another country, no matter if it is more extreme, the human response will be to compare the same issues closer to home before you start to lay into other countries citizens' misdeeds.

In reality what you are admitting is that you don`t give a damn about anyone else, you just want a snowflake victim hood status that you hope lets you elbow your way to the head of the line for government handouts.

I bet a lot of those "Hate crimes" amount to little more than a gay being called a mean name.
Since it's the DUmmies, and they can't right away use that hideous murder to condemn Americans/ CHristians, they'll do the old equivalency argument to make us look worse than the actual murderers.

Spot on, and H-5ed!

Lib and Prog victimologists' Oppressor-Victim worldview/theology is too simplistic and too separated from the real world to handle one victim class oppressing another victim class, let alone a supposed victim class oppressing a supposed oppressor class (e.g. Sudanese Muslim Arabs' decades-long genocide against southern Sudanese Christians or Muslims' genocide against Christians in the ME and South Asia, and in Nigeria). It's a (if not THE) primary reason why the Sudanese genocide was not covered by the MSM, and why condemnations of the genocide against Christians and killings of gays by Muslims in the ME, South Asia, and Nigeria are so muted.

Ah, the Art of Deflection! Acknowledge something with one 9-word clause in one sentence, then condemn something utterly unlike and irrelevant in the next 5 2/3 sentences (143 words).

So, if events by small groups in distant, remote places get almost no attention, that means a search of DU will find few, if any, references to Joseph R. Kony and his so-called "Lord's Resistance Army". Right?

Given their way of damning christians at any chance I'm betting they'll stick with the Muslims. Libs have no problem throwing one of their subgroups to the wolves to keep the narrative up.

What would put them in a bigger quandary is in 1965 Indonesia. Muslims slayed millions of Communists and leftists. The PKI was the largest Communist Party outside of Soviet Union and China. Within a few months, the PKI dissolved. Communism is a crime in Indonesia to this day.
