Wake up, wake up! I haz a chicken question ...
Has any of you dealt with ear infection in your poultry? I have a girl, Honey Butt, who has been fighting one for a while now. Vet is not in the budget, and I've tried (am trying!) antibiotics, ear cleaning, compresses, etc. Gets better but not gone.
She's my fav girl. Rides my shoulder like a parrot (well, until her balance got wonky with this), sits on my lap and is the happiest of the bunch to see me every morning! If I had any money I'd do the vet, but I haven't paid full rent on time for months. Just can't do it. I don't want her to suffer, but I just can't put her down.
Any ideas? Anything? I will do anything in my power!
Many primitives respond, but any discussion of poultric ear infection is pretty boring.
This however caught the eye.

9. congrats, chic doc. got one of my own right now.
she will be going back to the flock today, as she is well enough to jump up on my desk now.
but she injured her leg, got it caught in the back of a chair in the yard and nearly hung herself.
brought her in for that, and turns out she had a bumble on the other foot.
since she really needed to be walking on that sore leg, she has been free ranging around my house. sharing the bird room w the parrots.
funny how sweet and docile they get when you are making them feel better.

I think she means that they are literally around the house, and not in the house. The parrot room is curious, though. That's probably another broken down vehicle Mo has rechristened to be something else other than a broken down vehicle.

Nope, she means a chicken had been running around inside her house, adding fresh chicken shit to the accumulated crudescence caking her floors. Note she says it's ready to rejoin the flock, which would be outside.
Big Mo's house may be WORSE than Nadia's parrot cage, if you can imagine that. Wonder why her husband dumped her.

As GOBUCKS speculated, I'm pretty sure she meant the chicken's running around inside her house.
With the parrots, remember, and I don't think Big Mo would let the parrots fly around outside.
It's got to be inside her house, where she's now got chicken shit all over the floor, on the seats of chairs, in the middle of the dining room table, all over the bed-sheets, on the couch and kitchen counters, maybe even on the bottom of her bathtub.
Chicken shit all over the place.

I have a sneaky suspicion that poor chicken doesn't make a sound when it farts.
