Title: Today in Rock History...
Post by: Big Dog on March 15, 2016, 11:20:26 PM: March 15, 1976: KISS released their defining album, Destroyer.

I saw KISS in concert as a teenager, for the ALIVE II tour. I saw them again in 2000, and the show was just as much fun as it was almost 25 years before.

You wanted the best, you got the best. The hottest band in the world, KISS!

Post by: thundley4 on March 15, 2016, 11:43:35 PM: I listen to an "oldies" station sometimes. They play rock and pop from the mostly the 70's and a little from the early 80's. I've never heard them play anything by KISS. WTF?

KISS was mostly a "watch/experience" group -- the only "listen" cut was "I wanna Rock and Roll all night."

I'd add "Detroit, Rock City" and "Beth" from the Destroyer album.

Speaking of "Detroit, Rock City" and "Beth", KISS performed both on The Paul Lynde Hallowe'en Special in 1976, probably as an album promotion.

KISS at 25:40. Florence Henderson singing "That Old Black Magic" at 39:00, then KISS again. Paul Lynde's attempt at humor after "Beth" is painful.

They were played on the radio all the time way back when. It wasn't like they were only a performance band.

I first saw them on Don Krishner's Rock Concert before they became famous and the Kiss Alive album introduced them to the rest of the world. If I had to pick their best studio album it would be Rock -n- Rollover. That release best copied their live sound. I've seen Kiss three times. Once between the first live album and Destroyer. Then right after the release of Rock -n- Rollover. Finally in 1996 when they did their Reunion tour with Ace and Peter. All three were great shows.

Post by: IndiCon15 on March 20, 2016, 11:00:00 PM: I saw them live at the LA forum when they first went on tour being back in make up. It was one of the coolest shows I've seen. They just have album after album that are top notch but I think Dressed to Kill, Love Gun, and I gotta say, Dynasty.....are my favorites. Save Your Love via Dynasty, and about every other ACDC song got me through many a bad break up lol
