The University of Missouri announced on Thursday the firing of Melissa Click, the assistant professor who faced backlash after a tense confrontation with a student during protests on campus last fall.
Click, who teaches in the Department of Communication, attracted nationwide attention after she was caught on video calling for "muscle" to help her eject a student journalist from a protest site on campus last November. Click faced further scrutiny after the Columbia, Mo. Police Department released video from a separate October protest on campus in which Click can be seen cursing at a cop who is trying to clear a roadway on campus after Click and a group of student demonstrators locked arms to block a road during the university's homecoming parade in October.

Nelson is getting a workout today.
-
She should have been fired for her horribly-outdated use of the term "muscle".

I think she needs more long term employment. Teacher in a federal prison might be an option. Her tenure could be 20 to life.

I'm good with that. Her safe space can be solitary confinement.

It's about time.
I guess they finally figured out that keeping on that dead weight was really starting to have an adverse effect on their enrollment numbers.
-
They would have kept her, but the light of public scrutiny forced their hand.
We can all thank the fact that the liberals do not have a monopoly on the news anymore

It took them 4 months to can her @#$! I take that to mean U-MO was hoping things would quiet down and they could keep her on. But even if I'm too cynical, why in Hades did it take 4 months to do the obviously right thing?!

Exactly.

Why did it take so long? She should of been out a long time ago.

IIRC, U-MO has had a noticeable drop in new student applications, with this incident being the tip of the iceberg.

If so, they would be the first and only HE institution to do so.
