Fr. Kapaun was a native of Pilsen, KS, about an hour southeast of Smallville.  A high school in Metropolis (Wichita) was named in his honor.

There is a chapel on Pulaski Barracks here in Kaiserslautern named for him too. They had a big ceremony and plaque unveiling when he was awarded the MoH.
