I'm going to attend the GOP Caucus next Tuesday and I'm lost at who to vote for.
I have to admit that I've leaned towards Trump since he announced. Why? Because he's a business man and not a professional lawyer/politician, the people who've gotten us into the mess we're in. A man who know how to take on problems and select the right people to help him do so. In other words, a manager.
I also like Doctor Carson a great deal. The perfect example of what someone can do if they fight the good fight to escape the slavery created by the Democrat War on Poverty. The son us a single, black woman, he got the most out of a less than ideal education system and elevated himself to be one of the best in his chosen field. He is a religious man although his form of religion is not one I'd chose. And, while it's not apparent, he too knows how to face real challenges and overcome them with the right people.
I'm sick of having an inept lap dog in the Oval Office who seems to be nothing but a puppet on the strings of behind-the-scenes movers and shakers like Valerie Jarrett. I want a REAL Chief Executive. That's why I've also been trying to find a governor to support.
Chris Christie just seems unelectable to me. There something about Kasich that just grates on me in spite of his actions in Ohio – perhaps his constant telling me all about it. I admire Jeb Bush – but we just don't need another Bush in the White House right now IMHO.
So, now we come down to it – Cruz or Rubio.
The fact that so many establishment and media types don't like him almost attracts me to him in spite of him being another attorney/politician. He's sort of a hometown Vegas guy who knows what the average person goes through in life. But the Harvard law degree also grates on me. I've got to admit that he's probably the best-informed candidate on the US constitution. But, what makes him qualified to be the Chief Executive?
Rubio. Well, in spite of what I've learned about him, I can't get excited over him.
So, where does that leave me?
Trump excites people and just may bring out the sit-on-your-duff, middle of the road Americans who will speak up for WE THE PEOPLE and not the DC Inner Circle. But. Can he be trusted to keep his word? Or will he be yet another disappointing Hope and Change big mouth who ends up promising lots of things and doing others?
Most important of all – I WANT THE DEMOCRAT NOMINEE TO LOSE. I don't care who he or she is. I also want to retain and even increase the GOP leads in Congress, as well as state and local elections.
Can Cruz be the kind of candidate to create the excitement necessary to do this?
Or will The Donald?
So, where do I turn? Who do I support?
Would love to see some reasoned and non-hate filled responses.
Thanks.

I think Rubio, Christie and Bush are as good as out. They are both very weak candidates and have been since the race began due their very soft stances on immigration. They just have Establishment written all over them.
Carson is a wonderful human being. I believe he would be a great president but his fatal flaw is he doesn't seem prepared for the kind of nastiness the left is capable of stooping to get what they want.
As far as Trump and Cruz I don't know. I like them both for different reasons. Cruz definitely seems like a solid conservative and while Trump is a risk. Having him as president can't be worse than what we've gone through for 7 years and what we'll get with a Hillary or Bernie administration.
Personally, I'd narrow it to Trump or Cruz and just go with your gut.

For me, Cruz in the primary-- I hoped he would run ever since Heller and was reinforced by the filibuster and the poison pill amendment to immigration--yeah, i saw what he was doing there and liked it :)
In the general, I'm out to defeat the Democrat, so if they end up nominating a bowl of chili, then Viva la Chili.

Cruz, Rubio and Trump in that order.

Announced who I caucused for in Iowa. Cruz. Really like Dr. Carson, but think that Senator Cruz reflects my values above the rest of the field.
It is a joy & a great experience to participate in them. So thank you for doing so as well.

I'd vote for the constitution, liberty, and conservatism. Ted Cruz seems to be the guy who best represents those things. In a general election I too would vote for a bowl of chili if it were running against a democrat.

Ted Cruz. I have been a huge supporter of Cruz for quite some time. Ted Cruz is the only candidate who has stood up time and time again to the Washington cartel. He has been a leader of opposition in the US Senate against, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and the Iran Nuclear Deal. Cruz led the opposition to the Gang of Eight amnesty bill in the Senate Judiciary Committee and voted against advancing the bill. As solicitor general he took on 'W' Bush in the Medellin v. TX case and won; thus saving our sovereignty against the U.N. also, he successfully led 31 states before the U.S. Supreme Court in D.C. v. Heller and won. He has been endorsed by Gun Owners of America and was awarded the NRA's 2010 Carter-Knight Freedom Fund Award.
With Cruz's experience in the Supreme Court, he is the only candidate that I am confident in that will appoint conservative justices to the Supreme Court; our 2nd amendment rights, our freedom of speech protections as well as abortions laws are at stake.

Cruz. Voting for Trump is no different at this point than voting for Hillary.
-
Cruz is who I am supporting.
Look on youtube for some of President Reagans speeches from the 60s and 70s and then compare with who is saying X today.
