I think it boils down to the parliamentary system. Our system was designed to be different and designed to stop things from changing unless there was practically 100% support for the change.

I think the founding fathers did not anticipate how stupid it really was, because they did not anticipate the effects of combining this structure with extreme partisanship. It's bad enough on it's own, but when you add extremely divided parties to this structure, it's a disaster, dysfunction waiting to explode upon itself.

26. Yes, agreed and the states were full of themselves
at the time. They had their own governments as colonies are did not want to give up power. I am from Delaware, one reason for the Senate. It was a little state and with other little states, fought to keep their power and knew that states with larger populations could outvote them. The Senate is anti-Democratic, with New York or California having as many Senators as Delaware or Wyoming. Then the filibuster! That tops it off. The Senate thus drags and is a huge ball and chain stopping changes from being made.

Only a DUmmie could look at our governmental system and see the goals of the founding fathers as unforeseen consequences. The Founding Fathers wrote the constitution after fighting a war over self government, to say that they couldn't expect the "partisanship" of modern politics is laughable. If the Senate slows down change, so much the better, as when changes are rushed through congress, that is when the biggest problems arise *cough*Obamacare*cough*.

The DUmmies that decry our form of government and wish we were more like Europe, need to move there for 2 years. Not visit for a week and speak glowingly of how wonderful it is (since locals will defend and praise what they have, rather than bitch and complain about the high income taxes and the VAT taxes, to a foreigner and especially an American). Just talking to someone about how good it is, doesn't make it so. Besides, they'd blow off those that condemn things and cherry pick the good stuff.
I betcha, after they live and work there for 2 years, they'll see the error of their ways.
That said, they'd rather praise from abroad, than go and experience.

The only thing the founding fathers perhaps didn`t anticipate was how truly loathsome and stupid you DUmbasses are.
Beyond that they anticipated exactly the likelihood a parasite class would develop from the urban confines even of that day and wrote the Constitution to hopefully prevent it from gaining power.

There is a difference between wanting power for the sake of power and freebies like you imbeciles do, and wanting enough power simply to be respected and let be by a tyrannical king, as the framers did. You idiots piss and moan about "our democracy" and anti-democratic this and anti-democratic that, all the while living in a fantasy world where our system of government was supposed to be a democracy. Sorry, it never was.
