US Unemployment at 4.9%.
Mic drop, Mr. President.
http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/05/news/economy/us-economy-january-jobs-report/index.html
This is literally the most significant 8 year economic recovery in US history. Bigger than FDR's.
I assume we will see posts on this throughout the day, as the DUmmies are excited at the unemployment numbers, and they have nothing else to do. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027586599)
I seem to recall that from 2001-2008, their algebra concerning people who had given up looking for work was on a level that had them not only excusing dear Aunt Sally, but giving the old bag a complete etiquette lesson. Odd how that happens.
Not to mention that on every other day besides today, they howl about McJobs and the quality of the ones they attribute to Jug Ears.

2. Exactly. I'm really in awe of what this President has done. With nasty opposition on both sides no
less.
His golf game HAS improved, hasn't it?

3. He is a great president
And that pisses a lot of people off.
And here I was thinking that TPP and H1B visas were issues for you people? Oh well: he's a "great" president. All that's forgiven, huh?

Yet planned layoffs had a record surge.
-
And those who have dropped out of the labor force is at a all time high. Most of the jobs created under Obama are low paying service industry jobs and that is why they demand to have the minimum raised to $15.00. No one can support a family with the jobs created during Obama's watch.
-
It's really easy to claim low unemployment rates when people have quit looking and decided to ride the welfare train.
-
I won't be surprised when Obama's BLS puts out a monthly report; 100,000 jobs lost, unemployment drops to 4%.
You all know that the DUchebags will believe it and go out shouting to the world their idiocy.
-
I see two things here
1) the govt deliberately releases a false report
2) the DUmmies line up to drink the Koolaid
I can see how Stalin contemptuously referred to his most loyal subjects as "useful idiots."
-
4.9% MY ASS!!!
-
Yeah put a two in front of that four and you would be in the ballpark.

Lies by omission. Something like 90 million unemployed and/are gave up looking.
I'm underemployed, but I still work & don't bitch about it. Just happens, sadly, to those of us who suffered through being laid off in this crappy economy.
-
Just to repeat...
70% Of Jobs Added In January Were Minimum Wage Waiters And Retail Workers
And add me to the bogus statistic as of this week. Removing a layer of management. Restructuring. I thought I'd put this in the Cryin in my Beer, but **** it. **** you, DUmbasses and your DUmbass president. Take your 4.9% and shove it. It's not real. It's a lie, like everything else out of your ****ing party.
-
Obozo uses fake arm to pat himself on the back, (D)Ummies cheer.
Nothing new.
CMD
-
And a good indication that the market believes that employment is getting better is the NYSE. As of right now, it's down 250 pts.
So, no.

I seem to recall the pejorative "McJob" being all in the rage on DU from the period 1/2001 - 1/2009. I wonder what happened to that?
Oh well. All I need to know about the real DUmmy employment situation, I can read on gofundme.
Which by the way, Rolex Randy Shaw still stands at a robust $0.00 in his gofundme quest to travel the country, ensuring voting rights for people who can't be bothered to vote.

10. If you believe those numbers, I have a bridge you may want to buy
They have been cooking unemployment numbers for years. Real unemployment is in double digits -- probably closer to 20 percent.
Recursion is shocked.

16. That is bullshit, and I have to call you out on it
The unemployment rate has zero to do with UI benefits. Nothing. It's egregious right wing bullshit to lie about there being a link between the two.

17. Go ahead.
I was employed in State Employment Division. It is what it is.
And then they squabble and shriek, with fredamae calmly describing what goes on at the DOL, and Recursion having a conniption fit.
And then, a DUmmie says something really stupid:

34. I think our Gov. uses personal bank accounts to know who's in 'ungainful' 'employment'.
Banks are a type of tracking system these days.
And then they go off on drug testing:

57. Jesus. I guess the numbers say that's true; I still just have a hard time imagining it
What's crazy is that as a sysadmin I can't even imagine an employer asking me that, and I certainly wouldn't agree to it, even though I've never really been a drug user. And that's for servers that control the payroll or whatever for hundreds of people. But try to make a dude a sandwich, and they want your piss. What a ****ed up world...
Right, another sysadmin. Every company requires it, you cretin, because every insurance company requires it.

Even CNBC (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/02/05/so-this-is-what-full-employment-looks-like.html) isn't buying Barry's lies.

So when it all comes crashing down can the next president blame obumbles for the entirety of his term?

I know here in WV obumbles policies have damned near killed the economy. That turned a reliable dem state into a GOP state pretty quick.
Look dummies... you can only blow smoke up someone's ass for so long. Reality is something you cannot ignore and those of us working... well those of us that still have a job... know something is terribly wrong with the economy. That terrible thing is obumbles. He owns it. So do you.
I hope you dummies die a freezing cold death in the street.

4.9% MY ASS!!!
I don't doubt it. After all, when no one is working, and the last claimant falls off the unemployment report, unemployment will be at 0.0%.
Then again, I do doubt it. 4.9% is a joke with seriously cooked numbers. When a Republican comes in and exposes the true number, all that unemployment will be his/her fault. A win-win for the DUmmies.
-
GADOL kicked me off unemployment after 2 weeks. I don't have the time nor inclination to fight those government assholes. It was only 275 net per week anyway. No where near what I was accustomed to. I decided it was time to change career fields entirely. I'm now selling insurance. Did the online training one week, took those bitches of tests for my MS licenses the next. Half my office was laid off, and we only had 25 people to begin with and were defense contractors training troops. I know a TON of people who've been laid off in the last 4 years. I'm just not going to sit around bitching about it and demanding the government hold my hand like a DUmbass.
-
Oh dummies and btw:
"Looking at the job market in the context of the whole economy, it is probably true, as Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez said, that the closer the economy comes to the summit of full employment, the steeper the climb to create new jobs."
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-jobs-report-20160205-story.html (http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-jobs-report-20160205-story.html)
same could have been said about Bush back in 2005-2007. You dummie love to tout how little jobs were created under Bush... this is one of the reasons why. He fixed the economy pretty fast after the dot com bust in 2000, 9-11 in 2001, etc.
Even back then ya all could not find a job.
Here is what I know:
Back in 2005-2007, the economy was booming. The economy could not in any way be said to have been booming the last 7 years.
In the words of Lieberman, when he was running in the primary for dem candidate for president in 2003: "This president is a miserable failure."
Lieberman had it correct, he just had the wrong president.

I'm working in my field but have been laid off so many times it hurts (I usually work contract which contributes to that). It's why I got NRA certified as a handgun instructor. I don't really work very hard at that since it's a bitch to transport all my stuff from one contractor job to another. But, push comes to shove, I can go back home and flood gun stores, pawn shops etc. with business cards. I'm thinking about doing that anyway. I don't sit on my a*s and complain.
H5 to you for doing what you have to do.

What happened to crash the economy? Dems took control of congress, and the housing and banking committees. They sabotaged it completely just so it could be used in the next presidential election.

The economic crash was there for all to see if one would have watched the signs. IBD and I think it was Barron's were warning a few years before about the coming housing defaults due to people buying more house than they could afford and interest only mortgages. Bush tried to fix it but the queer congress critter from up north led the dem push to nix it.
The only thing those finance newspapers got wrong was the size. If we would have had any politician but the fool currently in the white house we would have recovered a lot faster.
Just as an aside here... an observation over the years. I listen to the radio a lot. And whenever I hear them touting something, gold, silver, oil futures, housing debt bonds, etc, that usually means that sector of the market is going to crash big time. Ain't scientific now, but I think it is a valid observation.

86. "This is literally the most significant 8 year economic recovery in US history."
Walter Mitty on steroids comes to mind when reading such a statement. If you posted this on any actual leftist website you would be laughed out of the thread in very short order. This represents everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party. The complete unwillingness to deal in material reality and truth while shilling for the party over the well being of the people as a whole. Your post is a disgrace and an insult to the tens of millions of working people hanging on by a finger nail in this "economic recovery."
Barack Obama has presided over the continued race to the bottom for millions, the ever increasing degradation of the working class as a whole, and the largest wealth transfer to the top in U.S. history. That is reality.
Ok, I wanna know. Which one of us is this guy?

How about some inconvenient truths.
Employment participation is at 62.7%. That is nowhere prior to 2008.
