Coin flip? Are you ****ing kidding me?

Several countie' delegates were decided by a coin flip?

Really?

I think this whole coin flip scenario is wholly archaic and an embarrassment to Iowa Democrats generally. The coin flip is useless and gives a serious caucus the air of NFL football game _ and I didn't see any skimpily clad cheerleaders.

No, the accepted method id Democratic politics for deciding a tie - and I believe West Wing will bear me out on this - is

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!

after which a youtube thing

MSNBC: I think Lawrence should weigh in on this. His analysis would send Matthews home in a snitt.

Okay, so I thought it was hilarious that Messalina Agrippina won seven of seven coin tosses used to determine the winner of a precinct, even though the Bernie bullies didn't.

Apparently one has 1-in-56 chances of hitting seven out of seven.

Those are formidable odds, but not nearly as formidable as the odds of winning the Powerball lottery, and it needs pointed out that once in a while someone does indeed win the Powerball lottery.

Too bad for the Bernie bullies.

3. Seriously...

Especially if you have to do it seven freaking times...

It seems to me the tied precincts should remain tied until everything is counted and then split down the middle. If you've got an odd number the flip for that last delegated, but otherwise wtf?

<<<has the feeling that if Methuselah had won the coin tosses, the Bernie bullies wouldn't have a problem with coin tosses.

<<<could be wrong though.

You know, it was with Great Sadness that I watched, as the third Democrat in the race for the nomination, Marvin Mallory, dropped out, leaving the field to the worthier candidate and Methuselah.

Sure, I want the worthier candidate to win the Democrat nomination, but I think she should have to work for it, a little bit.

It's pretty well accepted that this third Democrat candidate is, generally, more ethical, more willing to listen to reason, more tolerant of opinions other than his own, than is the scowling perpetually indignantly self-righteous old man from Vermont, who might not live long enough to the elections, succumbing of that which gets us all if nothing else gets us sooner, old age.

It's possible--nay, probable--that a Messalina Agrippina-Marvin Mallory race for the Democrat nomination would be more interesting than the race as it appears it's going to be.

I think the Bernie bullies really ought to contemplate upon this; how their greed and stupidity led them to overlook someone more qualified than their eventual candidate.

The Bernie bullies need to contemplate upon that sad picture, because they wrought it.

There was a fine, young, energetic, handsome young man ready to take up the mantle of the Democrat party, and who possibly--doubtful, but possible--could've defeated the worthier candidate, but no.....the Bernie bullies were infatuated with a flatulent old man righteous in indignation but feeble in vigor and really stupid in intellect.

I guess for some people, ugly, derelict, old, broken down, and crazy turns them on.

Why that is, I have no idea.

Let the clown car roll on.... :-)

The Bernie bullies once again proved franksolich right; proved something I've said all along--that they have no class, no grace, no manners.

They might as well be a bunch of naked apes running around, given their uncouthness.

Last night in Iowa, when the worthier candidate showed up on their television screens, the mobs shouted "liar, liar!" at her.....an old lady.

I may belong back in the eighteenth century or something, but I always thought one was supposed to treat old ladies with better courtesy than what the swine slapped on her.

I have to strongly recommend Mr. Wiggum's account from the Republican side of the aisle:

"final Iowa recap from ground zero"
http://conservativecave.com/index.php?topic=106339.0

in which it's demonstrated that Republicans know how to hold simple and honest elections, while Democrats apparently can't.

This is only the beginning. They're going to get much much worse before they all end up on the same page. Old rivalries will heat up, lists will be made, targets will be painted, and imagined slights will be enjoyed by all. I hope skins stocks replacement parts for the alert button...

I'm amused at how the notion of individual coin flips 'stacking odds' have permeated everything.

That isn't how it works kids. Each coin flip was a unique event, making the odds of each flip slightly less than 50-50. (slightly less because it is possible -though highly improbable- that the coin lands on its edge and never falls over)

Its also why Martingale Betting is legal at casinos. - Because the idiot who uses the system almost always loses. (Martingale Betting is betting on red or black on a roulette wheel, the odds are slightly less than 50-50 as well (green space) , and when you lose, you double down on the same color for the next spin, because 'what are the odds it isn't going to come up [color] again ?'

Each spin is a unique event, meaning each spin has just under a 50-50 chance of coming up. )

I don't know about that. There are a lot of statistical articles dealing coin toss odds.  Granted, most of them deal with consecutive tosses at the same place and time not ones that are miles apart.

Still it's a good thing to feed the idea that Hillary had to resort to cheating to beat the better candidate.

Probability Statistics begs to differ.  The probability of a SERIES of events is calculated by multiplying the probably of each event uy the number of successive events in the series.  So if the probability of getting the correct guess on the coin toss is 1/2, then the probability of 7 in a row is 1/2&7 or 1/128.  This is true no matter the guess, since your probability of being CORRECT is 1/2.

But there are wrinkles to this, and I don't mean the ones on Bernie's and Hillary's faces/bodies.

Everyone is assuming that Hillary's team all called heads or they all called tails. Unless that is known, the probabilities of Hillary winning all of them can't really be determined.

Sickening.

Chose my college based on academics & the cost with my parents.  Had a partial scholarship, they paid the rest.  As did I working in high school & summer in college.  No loans necessary.

Granted, the tuition costs have skyrocketed way beyond cost of living/inflation since then.  Lots of reasons for that.  We would need a separate thread about that.

No, they are unrelated. Different coin, I'm sure each of them was tossed at a different height, the coins spun a different amount of times, and landed on different surfaces. - The same is true with roulette - the wheel itself ends up spun at differing velocities, and the ball released at a different point in the spin.

Now if they used the same coin and some sort of coin flipping device to ensure identical conditions, then the Bernouts might have a case. The same would be true if six coins were flipped at the same time from the same hand, since they all would have the same forces acting upon them.

Most children would support 365 days of Christmas and to a degree despite physical age many are children well into their 20s now so not surprising.

Right now the leftist bag of shiny toys is pretty much tied closed so it is just hope and promises without a lot of serious thought given to it.
In time the actual numbers have to be crunched and the realization that (by my guess) the ratio of winners to losers would have to be in the neighborhood of 25-75 respectively.
There is no way possible for the optimistically low funding numbers crazy Bernie has suggested to ever add up to "free" healthcare.
There is no way possible for an all powerful entity to take 100% control of the administration of healthcare without making rationing decisions far more radical then what exists today.

That is just in the healthcare area, add in all the other freebies and that bag of toys becomes a lot of coal really fast to people that may think it won`t cost them a nickel.
