My girlfriend and I got in a big fight. She wants me to stop driving my "o-zone buster"...
...it's really putting a damper on my day
I drive a 1965 Chevy pickup truck with a V8 that gets about 9 miles per gallon. She told me I need to get a hybrid or else our relationship is in question. She's 20 years younger than me and several degrees out of my league...so I don;t want to take this too lightly.

37. Good for your GF pestering you to care about the environment!
^ coupled with his racism-baiting defense of Muzzie rapists I'd love to punch this d**k in his c**t

60. dude, girlfriends come and girlfriends go...
...but a big block '65 Chevy truck will always keep you warm at night. Just sayin'.

61. Yes agreed...but technically, I am her supervising manager at work...so I must tread lightly...
...don't want an acrimonious breakup to blow up in my face.

73. What is she's an intern, not an employee...would that make any difference?
Just a hypothetical question.

86. I called it folks.
This story is bouncy as hell.

126. Then if this is true, you're a moron
You've put the company at risk of a lawsuit. The least of your worries should be the stupid truck, you can easily be fired. Best not to take out a car note when your own employment may be at risk.

127. love transcends the frivolities of life
tammywammy (22,008 posts)
131. Then why the question about the truck?
Isn't that a "frivolity of life"?
Does your management know you're dating a subordinate? Are you prepared to defend yourself if there's a sexual harassment lawsuit? Do your other employees know you're dating? Is she receiving any preferential treatment? Any effect on employee morale?
Dating a subordinate is not only plain stupid, it shows a real lack of good judgment.

136. How did I put anyone at risk for a sexual harassment lawsuit if all amorous encounters...
...between two adults were reciprocated?
tammywammy (22,008 posts)
139. Supposedly consensual
"He promised me a job if I dated him." Or if there's the wiff of favoritism from other you supervise. Any PDA at work?
You've shown a serious lack of judgment. And the fact that you don't see it is more of a reason you shouldn't be a manager.
403Forbidden (96 posts)
140. Are you accusing me of perpetrating a non-consensual sexual encounter?
...come out with if you are...no need for the coy innuendo.
tammywammy (22,008 posts)
143. There's a reason you don't sleep with subordinates
One of the reason is is set up a lawsuit based on "told me I'd get a job/promotion/raise if I slept with them".
Not only that, if there's even the hint you're treating her with any favoritism. "Jane got XYZ because she's SLEEPING WITH THE BOSS".
This isn't complicated. You're showing a serious lack of judgment. I'd be more worried about getting fired than some stupid truck.
403Forbidden (96 posts)
146. You specifically said that I had already put someone at risk for a sexual harassment lawsuit
When i asked you how that was possible, you replied with a vague statement about how my sexual encounters were "supposedly consensual."
I think it is clear that you are insinuating that I am engaging in nefarious non-consensual sexual activity.

69. As a lonely old man
I'd drive a pedal car if it meant the company of a woman 20 years younger than me and out of my league.
Cartoonist (2,258 posts)
101. Wow, did you miss my point
I'm just sayin if he wants to be a lonely old man like me, then keep the truck.
I would accept almost anyone. Just because there are other women out there doesn't mean they are free for the taking. Women get to choose also.

Oh my, they're coming out of the woodwork, primitives once prominent but who haven't hung around Skins's island for a while.
The Odin2005 primitive, the professional aspie kid, for one, and I saw six other names of primitives who've obviously decided to return to the fold.

I probably released more hydrocarbons working on my MG B today than my Camry puts out all year.

Taking 403F's posts at face value ...
GF is demanding he put his gasoline where his Prog mouth is. He helped create his dilemma, just didn't think it would hit him in his ... . So which is hotter, GF, or his truck?
If 403F really doesn't recognize the un-wisdom of doing a subordinate at work, he's willfully blind and poorly trained in personnel manglement!

Dude got him a sense of humor. :-)

The DUmmy is just bragging that he is banging one of the girls at work. A regular Bill Clinton, he is.
She's 20 years younger than me and several degrees out of my league
In other words, a 17 year old high school dropout, and a solid "3".

Keep the real truck vs. an imaginary girlfriend dude.

A "3" is someone that Steve #'s aspires to reach.

No we are not accusing you of a non-consentual sexual relationship. We're accusing you of being an idiot for having a sexual relationship with a subordinate at work who is 20 years younger than you.
This can only end badly but, hey, you're a DUmbass so anything bad that happens to you is something that I approve of. Please continue to do what you're doing. I look forward to your pain and suffering.

It's never a good idea to dip your pen into a company ink well if she was 20 years your SENIOR.

I was just about to ask if dating your subordinate is the sort of thing that's severely frowned upon by most workplaces due to all the possible risks, complications, and conflicts of interest that such a relationship can bring to a workplace, but it looks like "tammywammy" beat me to it.
I wouldn't want to stay in a relationship with a gold- digging hippy girl anyway. I bet she lectures her other coworkers about their "Carbon footprint" on at least a weekly basis.

Oh my. Dummie is gonna run afoul of the Klams.
If the dummie does want to sell his truck I would be willing to buy it if it is in decent condition. I'm sure there are many here who would give him a good price. So go ahead dummie... take the girl and get rid of the truck. Just come on over here and name your price. Forget selling to the dummies, they have no money. Some one here will give you cash for it. Then you could take your girlfriend to go watch the whales in Alaska.

Never get your meat where you get your bread.
(but I did twice -- but none were in my department much less my chain of command).
