Title: This Should Be Fun To Watch Over At DU
Post by: txradioguy on January 14, 2016, 02:52:50 AM
I can't wait to see the conspiracy theory pontifications and cries of "no real left leaning news outlets around anymore" when the DUmmies catch wind of these two announcements.

We'll start with the favorite news channel in the West Wing.

Al Jazeera America To Shut Down In April

After nearly 3 years of ratings failure (to say the least), Al Jazeera America will finally be put out of its misery this April. Since its 2013 launch, not only has the left-wing cable news network failed to deliver anything resembling an audience, other than humiliating itself with a now-debunked attack on football great Peyton Manning, the Qatar-owned newsmaker has failed to even make news.

For all of its existence, Al Jazeera America (AJA) personified the proverbial tree falling in a forest with no one there to hear it. There are mom-and-pop websites that have done what AJA couldn’t with all of its millions and all of its staffers: have some kind of effect on the news cycle. Never, not once, did AJA come up with a story, an interview, a scoop, a meme, or even a photo or video that became part of that day’s national conversation. In the department of epic fails, that in and of itself is an extraordinary accomplishment.

And then there is this:

‘Huffpost Live’ Is Dead; Parts Ways with Founding Editor Roy Sekoff

If you were wondering, as many have, how in the world The Huffington Post could afford to ape a cable news channel with eight daily hours of live programming on its streaming network, the answer is that it couldn’t, and now “Huffpost Live” is officially dead. According to the left-wing Politico, on top of lay-offs, “HuffPost Live will no longer broadcast eight hours a day, but will go live for major news events and headline-making celebrity interviews.”

Roy Sekoff, one of the Huffington Post’s founding editors and the site’s video department chief, has also announced his resignation.

We already have three low-rated, left-wing cable news networks: CNN, MSNBC, and Al-Jazeera America.

For whatever reason, The Huffington Post thought America needed a third.

Nice to hear about AJA. My brother (Who's alternately a Communist, an Anarchist, and any one of a number of bizarre positions between the two, depending on which way the wind blows) would often watch it and tell me I should watch it, claiming it's "Fair and balanced."
Before getting its American station, wasn't Al Jazeera known for at times openly praising Muslim terrorists and Iraqi insurgents?

They still are in the Arabic broadcasts and websites.  That's where they refer to our fight against Saddam as an "invasion".  Same for Afghanistan.

Hadn't heard of Huffpost Live. So ... Err America died years ago, Huffpost Live was stillborn, Al Jazeera America will be euthanized in April, and MesSNBC is a ratings zombie. Seems there's just not much of a market in the US for broadcast hate-America crap.

Good. I think that the next propaganda outlet that needs to be discussed is RT. The sad part is that there are a significant number of people that actually believe the BS pushed by RT.

The channel is part of a media empire owned primarily by the royal family of Qatar, a Persian Gulf state that is rich in oil and natural gas. It began after its parent company paid $500 million in early 2013 to buy Current TV, a struggling cable channel founded by former vice president Al Gore.

In other words gloBULL warmings mad messiah, the GOREacle cashed in his failing TV network to a bunch of Middle Eastern oil Royals which in turn continued to lose money.
So what did the royal family actually "get" out of the deal?

RT won't go away because that's Putin's in house propaganda mouthpiece.

If AJA is going tits up does that mean that Madcow is now out of a job or is that another no ratings network that I am thinking of?

You're thinking of MSNBC.

Ahh thanks.  They may be up for auction soon themselves judging by the ratings.

Is he leaving in a snit over some insult to his inflated ego? Or did he some handwriting on the wall that isn't yet publicly known. I doubt he went there for free borscht an Stoli.

ETA: Since posting this I learned that Ed's show on MesSNBC was cancelled last July. So they left him rather that the reverse.

It seems to me that RT needs to offer free Stoli to its' viewers of Sgt. Schultz . . .

At this point it is just a matter of a few letters in the name that differentiate them from each other.

Or, if they ever do a reboot of Star Trek The Next Generation, he could win the role of Westley Crusher.

Like anybody noticed he was gone. The Drying Paint Channel has better numbers than Sgt Schultz did. Hell, so did The Rusting Iron Channel reality show 'Oxidizing Edsel'.

Which is about the woman, not about the car . . . :whistling:

Point of Information:  The Edsel was named by Henry Ford after a daughter of his.

Algore's  private porno reels of him playing tonsil hockey with Tippsie Tipper? If he went after her like a hungry hound after a fresh steak in public, imagine what he was like in private.

(maybe they thought buying a little Algore gorebull warming stock might insulate them in the future) :rotf:

Libs like Terry McAwful and AlGore know how to sell their worthless holdings to chumps, and cash in before the holdings go to zero value.

Capitalists, despite them desperately appealing to the "common" folk.
