Pentagon: 2 US Navy Boats Held by Iran but Will Be Returned
Source: Associated Press
The Pentagon says it briefly lost contact with two small Navy craft in the Persian Gulf on Tuesday but has received assurances from Iran that the crew and vessels will be returned safely and promptly.
Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook tells The Associated Press that the boats were moving between Kuwait and Bahrain when the US lost contact with them.
Cook says, "We have been in contact with Iran and have received assurances that the crew and the vessels will be returned promptly."

5. Quick! Teabaggers! Tell us how that is wrong!
Come on teabaggers! Tell us all how that is a bad thing!

10. Why is it bad?
Two of our boats have mechanical problem and our ally helps out? This is bad?
Quick...how many allies chant "Death to Our Ally!" at the drop of a hat?
And not one more word. You have to admire Iran's and Russia's stamina: they've been plowing 0bama for 7 years and they still haven't popped.
-
Allies wouldn't refer to them as being detained or arrested like Iran is doing.

No, no, no. The good ol' Iranian boys were just out fishin' and drinkin' when they saw our bad old sailors in distress, so they picked them up and hauled the boats in. Only reason they won't let them go immediately is because they want to give them a proper crawfish boil and anyway they need to wait for spare parts from Samir's Bait and Tackle Shop.
That's all it is. It's not like we have a thousand ships and a hundred helicopters that could come take care of things. Iran just wants those guys to stay away, since they don't have enough crawfish for all of them. That's all. Just folks.

A p3 orion had to land in China once. We eventually got it back - minus the engines, surveillance equipment, avionics it was nothing more than a shell. And we're on friendlier terms with them

It says it was inert so I can't imagine there was much tech in it. Otherwise it's being built in a Russian factory right now

From what I heard and understand, it's inert in terms of no explosives and no fuel, but all the electronics are on board.

Just about. The folks in uniform that handle that stuff have been cut to almost nothing.

16. Nothing to indicate hostility on the part of Iran; they are hosting sailors overnight for safety
The semi-official Fars news agency in Iran said that members of the hardline Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps had confiscated GPS equipment from the boats, according to The New York Times. The news agency said the data from the equipment would "prove that the American ships 'snooping' around in Iranian waters."
A senior US administration official told CNN's Jim Sciutto that there's nothing to indicate anything hostile on the part of Iran. Administration officials also reportedly said that releasing the sailors at night would be "unsafe."
Another US official, however, told CNN's Barbara Starr that the IRGC confiscated the sailors' communications equipment, which is hostile.

looks like they will bring our people safely to a transfer point so they don't have to wait while Iran fixes the ships for us. Talk about service!
This is why the DUmp is universally regarded as a kook site.

And that is exactly what is happening to those two Navy boats (not subs). Their signal gear is being analyzed as we type.

Are these similar to the boat that John Effin' Kerry served on in Vietnam? Shouldn't the Secretary of State be involved in a case like this?
Oh wait, he's probably somewhere warning African tribes on the dangers of global warming. :-)

I think they are an updates version of the Swift Boats.

Kerry was too busy runing around thanking the Head Choppers for releasing our personnel and talking about how the sanctions relief is still on track for Monday.
