Halo restored to image of Joe Paterno in mural near Penn State campus
Source: Yahoo
The artist who removed a halo from an image of the late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno on a mural after he was caught up in the Jerry Sandusky child-sex scandal has put it back on, saying: "It was the right thing to do."
Michael Pilato said he worked with helpers on New Year’s Eve to restore halos to images of Paterno and other late community and Pennsylvania State University notables depicted in the mural near the campus in the town of State College.
The mural, painted on the side of a building, is 100 feet (30 meters) long by 24 feet high (7 metres) and contains nearly 400 portraits.
Pilato said the halos were meant to convey the short number of years people have to do great things, not that they were saints who walked the Earth.
“I am not doing this because I believe all who had them were saints,†he said in an e-mailed statement. “I am doing this because it is the right thing to do.â€

Paterno was the head football coach at Penn State from 1965 until his firing in 2011 after state investigators linked him to the alleged cover-up of the Sandusky child-sex scandal. He died about a month later. Paterno was a revered figure to many alumni and others in Pennsylvania.

Also must be why we saw no priests go to prison for raping children and why no one ever mentions Dennis Hastert getting away with raping children.

Say hello to our new MIR Team!
The job of the Malicious Intruder Removal Team is to ban people who join DU with the intent to disrupt. MIR Team members are volunteers, and they serve for a three-month term.
If you are a member of the MIR Team, you should have access to the access-restricted Malicious Intruder Removal Forum. It should appear as a red folder on your Forums & Groups page, and in the left column of any page (if you view DU in "Standard" mode).
Thank you to everyone who volunteered!

I'm down. Can we use a MIRV so we can take out DU as well?

13. I say we just nuke the PSU board.
Had they done the right thing and fired Sandusky and given him to the DA like 15 years ago, none of this would have ever happened.
Same question.

We moved to Pennsylvania in 2004 so I don't have a long time understanding of PA politics. There is among the natives of this state an almost religious devotion to Penn State football, it's borderline psychotic.
Anyway, in my opinion, the main reason Corbett was defeated for governor was due to his handling of the Sandusky debacle. And now we have probably the worse governor in the entire country. Yes, Corbett wasn't perfect but Wolf is a certifiable fool.

Is your governor being investigated by a U.S. Attorney for corruption?
Mine is. :whatever: :whistling:

1. Has there been any mention as to the religious beliefs of the people involved in the Penn State sex scandal?
2. Holy hypocrisy in action, Batman! The DUmmies wrote the book on defending pedos and their enablers. They've repeatedly portrayed pedos and other such sickos as misunderstood victims of society who should be treated with mercy and sympathy (Yet no mention of such treatment needing to be given to the victims of molestation and their families), and claimed that child molesters should be let off with a slap on the wrist. For just one example, check out this thread in which they talk about how an article by a pedo in 'Salon' is "Illuminating" and "Enlightening": http://conservativecave.com/index.php?topic=104465.0
For another, how's about this one, in which they use the "They can't help it, they were born that way" argument to try and justify pedophilia (Coincidentally the same argument they use to justify homosexuality, yet they react with such righteous indignation whenever we suggest that their demand for full acceptance and celebration of homosexuality will put us on a slippery slope eventually leading to a demand for widespread acceptance of pedophilia): http://conservativecave.com/index.php?topic=104100.msg1306414#msg1306414
As for the remark about priests raping children, I'll see you that, and raise you all the innumerable teachers, especially public school teachers, who've raped children. There have been many, MANY more accusations of child molestation leveled against public school teachers than against clergymen. The reason why there hasn't been more mention of the innumerable teacher molestation scandals is due to the combined work of two ultra- liberal groups: The news media (Who deliberately give stories relating to teachers molesting children as little coverage as possible, if any at all), and the teachers' unions (They constantly fight tooth and nail to protect known child molesters within their ranks from facing any kind of punishment, and if/ when charges are pressed, the teacher's unions fight tooth and nail to try and ensure that the sickos in question continue to receive full pay and benefits from the taxpayers' pockets for as long as possible).

This is the same Penn State in the same era that "exonerated" Michael Mann after he was caught for his fraud and lying in climategate. :fuelfire:

Give the lad some time, he has only been in office but a year. Having said that, our atty general had her license to practice law revoked by the PA Supreme Court and is currently under indictment. It's really just a matter of time before she goes bye bye.

A parallel...and not entirely perfect by any means: Joe Paterno, Pete Rose, and Tiger Woods.
Each surrounded themselves with unsavory characters. Perhaps intentionally or not. But those around them contributed to their fall from grace.
Each, incredible & accomplished figures.
Paterno, was #1 all time in victories as a college football coach. Difficult to do as mostly a major college independent school. Before the college football landscape totally changed & Penn State finally joined a conference.
Rose, all time hits leader. Despite his limitations, played most positions on the field but always kept on hitting. Gritty, gutty. His nickname was "Charlie Hustle" for a reason.
Tiger, 14 major championships, creeping up on most career wins in PGA tour history. His father essentially pushed him into it, but Earl helped create one of the most amazing athletes ever. And before his multitude of physical injuries, perhaps could have surpassed Nicklaus as best golfer ever. Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead would be the others in my personal top 5.
Rather than complain about their indiscretions, properly saluting their accomplishments is entirely appropriate.
Far far far FAR more than any liberal or DUmmy could do.

Oh come on, Rebel! I know Eddie Robinson had more. As have others in different divisions. For a while Paterno & Bowden were battling for most D1 wins.
Kind of similar to when Nolan Ryan/Steve Carlton kept battling back & forth to break Walter Johnson's all time strikeout record.

They'll say this..and then turn around and defend PSU when the investigations start on how the Dean and the rest of the Regents covered up the shoddy work and fraudulent research that came from that campus as part if the IPCC "hockey stick" research into Globull Warming.
