I don't remember Christmas Dinner being like this
Yesterday, we cooked a Turkey for Christmas. It was a 20 pound bird. When I carved it up it appeared o be mostly all breast/white meat. It was about 85 percent white meat with 15 percent dark meat. When I was growing up in the 70's, the Turkey seem to be 60 percent white meat and 40 percent dark meat. Maybe I am just remembering it wrong?????

They are so top/front heavy they can barely stand up. It's a travesty.

And if he doesn't want a "factory farm" bogey-turkey, I'm sure he could find a Luddite-approved, organic, gluten-free, free-range turkey, buzz-word-rich at Whole Paycheck, if his local Kroger or Safeway or (name of major chain supermarket) doesn't have a bin-full.

I read the title of the thread too quickly - I read "DUmbass blows a turkey meat racist whistle" as "DUmbass turkey blows a racist meat whistle"

I suppose either title applies to the DUmmies.

In the 70s they were harvesting inner city turkeys.  Through the 80s and 90s turkeys began being taken from suburbia.  You can even see it in the Tyson logo, ever wonder about the link between red lining and the red border around their name?

I dunno why the robert primitive's bothered by a turkey 85% white meat and 15% dark meat.

That's probably the proportion of the population that prefers each of the two sorts.

Now, if they'd just invent an egg that's 85% yolk and 15% egg-white, everything would be dandy.

This looks like a job for KFC Frankenchicken (http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/kfc.asp)! It's interesting ... the DU post from "NV Whiner" invoked and applied to turkeys one of the details claimed about KFC's creatures.

Turkeys aren't bred for how well they can stand up.  They are bred for how well they taste in turkey sandwiches.
