Star Member Omaha Steve (58,938 posts)

Merry Christmas DU from Christmas past

This is from 1990, long before I had dementia.

I have another TV interview taken at the Crossroads Mall in the same time frame. if I can find it in time I'll post it too.

People would call the malls I worked at to make sure they came during my shift. When I stopped the 3 malls all got numerous complaints.

You will see I have worked with special children & abused animals for decades.

To the friends I have lost on the DU, I hope some of you understand dementia has a lot to do with it.

To better times with warmest regards,

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

Steve & Marta.

His dementia took control for a second. He meant to type:

You will see I have abused children & animals for decades.

If you think a mall Santa who smells like sweat, cheap beer, and cigarettes is bad...  here's a little Christmas cheer for you: The true story of "How Omaha Steve Totally Ruined Christmas".

"Mommy, Santa smells like poop!"

"Aw honey, that's just Santa Steve. He's a Crossroads Mall tradition. He's always been a little... gamey."

"Mommy, why does Santa Steve smell like poop?"

"Because, dear, Santa Steve crawls out of the sewer and delivers toys to all of the children of the world."

"WAAAAAAAH, don't make me sit on his lap! I'll be good! I'LL BE GOOD!"

Kinda harsh.  Merry Christmas, Steve and other assorted DUmmies, I hope Santa brings you a grip on reality so you can see where your party of reckless looters is taking us.

They won't see it, and could care less.  They believe there is infinite wealth held by the 1%, ALL of which was obtained illegally.

And, 1% is a misnomer - the 10-20%ers will also be in their strike zone

While there are some real failings with the Fiscal Conservatives' mantra that 'A rising tide raises all boats,' there isn't much waffle room in the fact that when the boat sinks, everybody gets to swim for their lives.  If they get the upper hand, we'll all be living that truth.

A job where young girls get to sit on your lap?

Big Steve may not be dying so soon after all.

I don't see the dementia.  Steve's posts are exactly the same as they were years ago.  Wouldn't they be rambling, with unfinished sentences?  Wouldn't his perception of time preclude his Santa Claus memories?

It would be something if a lurker could point this out over there. :whistling:

That's what I was thinking too.

Also, I don't believe that was actually the big guy hiding behind that Santa Claus beard in the video; it was somebody else.

It sounds like Steve.

I don't know where I ever ran across the Big Guy's voice before, but I did, and this sounds like him to me.

Okay.  I would have no idea what the big guy sounds like, but judging from the looks of him, I'd guess he sounds semi-literate, with a lot of "dese"s and "dose"s.

Well, he had a lot of "uhs", but probably not anymore than a good and decent person would have when stuck in front of a camera.

The closed captioning for the video was pretty accurate, if your curious what was actually said.
