I'm Sorry, But HRC Shouldn't Have To Apologize For Taking Longer To Piss Than The Male Candidates.
This is not a plug of HRC in any way, but that was bullshit. ABC News were a bunch of jerks for not waiting for her to return before starting again. If they didn't have another commercial racked to fill the gap, they should have jumped to one of the numerous panels of pundit-bozos who are more than willing to jerk off for five minutes, telling us the true meaning of what we've just heard.
The entire Democratic party should send nasty letters to ABC for that, and no other network should ever do it again. Regardless of whether it's Clinton, or even Fiorina at the GOP debates. That was just inconsiderate, period. It's a matter of general respect for women.

3. WHAT THE ****!!!! maybe she had to do a number two
I mean for the press to even bring that up is disgusting ****ing idiots

4. IMO, if Hillary wanted to be back "on time" she'd have been there.
I'm not sure why, but she was making a point. Maybe showing the sexist nature of ABC, maybe to draw attention to her, who knows, but that wan intentional.
sorry. edited foe spelling.

Was it? Was it, really?

6. Your very uninformed opinion. Building codes were changed DECADES ago
after time and motion studies showed that women required quite a bit longer to do their basic business in the bathroom than men.
And all ABC allotted was 5 minutes, including transit time.
That schedule was designed for the world of men. It's one more example of institutionalized sexism. It might seem trivial but it's not.
In this case, it brought all this negative judgment on Hillary just because she can't whip something out over a urinal and race back to the stage as fast as a man.

5. Thank you. Yes, it was absolutely WRONG of ABC and it seemed like they were
deliberately trying to embarrass her. No one in the audience would have ever noticed if they started the debate a couple minutes late and let their commentators blab on. Instead they announced that they were going to go on without her -- as if she were a lazy little girl who had to learn a promptness lesson. Very poor form!

8. Thank you, TrollBuster. Of all the sexist drivel we have to put up with...
And look at what we've got at DU -- here in this thread, and a long thread in GDP devoted to the same.
I mean, look at this crap: Why was Hillary fashionably tardy after the break?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251925496
Women take longer than men. We have to sit down every single time, and we have to take off half our clothing every single time. And in ordinary venues the lines are miserably long because of that, plus women have to bring in their children as well.
Yet here at DU we are getting sexist drivel from both men and women. Oh how progressive and liberal we are
Isn't it usually Proglodytes claiming men and women are exactly the same...
...even to the point of serving in Special Forces?
pnwmom (66,262 posts)
15. It was institutionalized sexism. They designed their 5 minute potty break schedule
around the needs of typical men, not women. And then they made a point of starting without her, as if she'd broken some rule just by being a female with female anatomy and clothing.
Researchers with stopwatches have shown women, on the average, need twice as much time to do their business as men.
This is no longer a men's world and ABC should apologize.

16. I have made no secret of the fact that I am not a fan of Hillary Clinton
You really don't want to know what I say irl. Anyway, this is a really stupid thing to attack HRC for a bathroom break. Plus there are women who might even need longer than that if they are home watching and they go for a break. I was at a debate party and I coulda used an extra minute to go to the bathroom get my beer and make a cheese and veggie plate. So there is that. I would like to see a lot more female solidarity on this rather than partisan bickering.

20. I'll explain it in words of one syllable. Again.
First time appears here http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251925496
as http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251925496#post19
Men: stand up against the wall urinal. Unzip. Do business. Zip up. Job done.
Women: squeeze into undersized stall. Take off one half of garments. Put paper on seat. Hope paper doesn't fall off while turning around. Put paper on seat again. Sit. Do business. Clean up. Get dressed again. Wash hands. Job done.
And you wonder why the lines for women's restrooms are so loooong. And that's without all of us who have to bring in small children.

Will Hillary be able to overcome this sabotage?
Depends

Why did they even need to take a piss break at all? Democrats seem to be able to babble on for hours and hours without a break when they are filibustering against civil rights.

I agree. That was hitting the lady below the belt, and thus unwarranted.
ABC must have a bunch of Bernie bullies working there; I don't think even a Republican or conservative would've brought up the matter. And yet we're the jerks and clods.

Oh shit.
Hussein von Slobber got to it.

I'm pretty sure this was an intentional and brilliant HRC maneuver.
*NOBODY* is talking about the contents of the debate, just how sexist ABC is. -Clinton wins.
-
ABC would have shown more commercials, but they were already losing a ton of money by showing the debate instead of some reruns of Fantasy Island.
-
Didn't she do the same thing at the last debate? If she has to pee that much.....is she in good enough physical condition to run the country?
My bet is she does it on purpose, wants to be "fahionably" late. It's her way of showing who the queen is.
-
The effects of advanced alcoholism and liberalism are taking their final toll on Hitlery.
-
Oh shit.
Hussein von Slobber got to it.
Well, BLEEP!
It was  entertaining  to see DU-folk getting exercised at ABC having dared to "touch" their anointed, their pre-e-e-ecioussssssss! I was hoping they'd soon get around to denouncing ABC as a right-wing outlet for having so done.
My hopes are dashed! Sob!
-

that's my take away from this. I mean, seriously, if God forbid she is our next president and that ever important call comes at 3:00a.m., will she be up to taking charge and being a leader or will she be stuck on the throne?
-
"Depends"- well done, SSB!
The Hildabeast was dropping a Chappaqua Steamer. She needed the Squatty Potty!
And if she orders one right now, she'll also receive a giftbag full of free* shit- and you know Democratics love free* anything!
http://www.squattypotty.com/
*Of course, "free" shit isn't really free, but Democratics are too damn dumb to figure that out.

Seriously, this? I can see cracks in DU.

18. It seemed rude to me that she wasn't back in time.
I think 5 minutes is a long time to take care of business when you have your own anointed toilet whether you are a woman or a man.
Yes, I am saying this as a woman, I think she looked foolish and rude for not making it a point to be back on time from break for a televised appearance before a national audience. n/t
Her attempted coquettish smile and composure in response did not cut the mustard either. imo
Charlotte Whitton said that women have to pee half as much and twice as fast as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult but it is too much for Cankles.
-
A Clinton does NOTHING unless it's to their political advantage. My bet? This was planned to garner sympathy and to make everyone else look bad.
She can't even go to the bathroom without thinking how this could be to her advantage. Anyone wanna bet she really wasn't in there to "go", but was in there to discuss strategy? After all, who is going to be in there to factcheck her story?

Could very well be.

Well men are better at everything and as proof of this I submit the fact that this year a man won the "women of the year" award. (Bruce Jenner) :-)

I would not be a bit surprised that it was planned to make sure everyone remember she was a woman and how male privilege drives society.
Remember 1984 and Ferraros inept attempt to force into the VP debate with Bush that he was "patronizing" towards her.
He stumbled a bit on it but it was so out of place and obviously contrived it cost her with the public.

She can get away with that in the primaries, but in a debate in the general? She won't get a quarter of the support that she got from that stunt now. Plus, if she tries it in a general election debate against Cruz or Trump, they will probably not mention it, unless it can be used against her--which either Cruz or Trump could easily do. She tried it once in the Democratick (deliberate) debate, and whoever is the Republican nominee will be ready for it in a general election debate.

Not so long ago, most sports stadiums had far more men's rooms than women's. The former Mrs. Wiggum was generously given 2 free tickets to every Bears/Packers game at Soldier Field by rich parents of the children she taught. She was/is a Packers fan.
When the new Soldier Field opened, the first game was a Monday Night matchup between Bears/Packers. Well, they overcorrected on the bathroom situation, at least for that game. The ladies rooms were plentiful, meanwhile it took me over half the 3rd quarter to simply wait for a urinal.

ABC would have shown more commercials, but they were already losing a ton of money by showing the debate instead of some reruns of Fantasy Island.
They also would have needed some sponsors willing to squander their dough on that programming choice. There's only so many PSAs they can string together, after all.

Wait! What? There were CONTENTS during the debate? And NOBODY TOLD ME!

Hillary Clinton was late returning to the debate stage because she refused to share the restroom with a Martin O'Malley staffer who beat her there first
Clinton, who seemingly displayed what her competition would call 'not your average American behavior,' had a staffer stationed strategically outside of the restroom to presumably avoid having to share, the Globe reported.
The unnamed staffer reportedly allowed Lis Smith, the deputy campaign manager for former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, to use the restroom moments before Clinton arrived.

Yes, we need to elect this woman as our next President.
-
Before any liberal "women" get bent out of shape, Clinton was wearing a shirt and pants, the same as her male colleagues.
It was simply Hillary being Hillary.
-
Anyone who is unaware of Hillary's toxic personality and mile-wide mean streak were either oblivious or not yet born during the 1990s.

And this speculation about "number 2" is all over the place, even at the DUmp. Gross.

Can you imagine the sounds and smells coming from Hillary's stall. :puke: That staffer for O'Malley should be thanking the Lord that Hillary waited.

Clinton's staffer better be updating her resume.
All part of the war on women.
