1. Berkeley students?

They went into their debt generation with their eyes wide open.

Heartless capitalist teabagger.

2. Rising college tuition costs are a problem in America. I don't find it funny at all. /nt

Especially the salaries of professors who then spend all their time soliciting federal grant money instead of teaching is perhaps why they rise.

3. I don't care if you find it funny or not. These kids intentionally enrolled at a premier university.

That university is enormously expensive, and they want us to pay for their choice? BULLSHIT!

College isn't free, and Berkeley is light years away from being free.

You want free education? Okay -- go to a local commuter/community college. Take your courses online from low end MOOC source. Your instructor can be a flow of electrons or some underpaid, underqualified local who teaches as a hobby.

But, don't bellyache about the cost of your education when you purposely selected one of the most competitive, selective universities on the planet.

Condescending elitist prick.
Man up buzzy and work help the poor kids out from the goodness of your heart.

Lying,****ing hypocrite.

"Free" college tuition interferes with his own government money grubbing and grant beggaring.  After all, that pot of gold in DC is only so big.

4. "Your instructor can be a flow of electrons or some underpaid, underqualified local who teaches as"

So the only affordable college education should be an inferior one.

Otherwise you deserve to get soaked on tuition if you want any degree of quality. Got it..

6. Nope. Didn't say that.

If you want free/ubercheap education no matter who you are? Yeah, your options are limited.

For all decent colleges and universities, there's a mountain of financial assistance out there in the form of grants and scholarships for those who qualify. Not everyone qualifies.

Otherwise you deserve to get soaked on tuition if you want any degree of quality. Got it....

Soaked? No. You choose to go to Berkeley or an Ivy League school or MIT or CalTech because you want the best of the best of the best. And why? Because that education is valuable to you and you're willing to pay.

I know this doesn't fit the socialist model, but this is not a socialist country.

9. Gee, I don't recall saying that. Or thinking it. You, however, clearly support...

...killing everyone who doesn't think like you, right?

Did you not say that?

We're done here.

11. I think you REALLY need to ask yourself what you

are doing on this site. Someone who graduates with a mountain of debt and uncertain job prospects will be unable to buy a house, a new car or start a family. Your posts suggest you have no problem with that. There's something quasi-sociopathic about your attitude and most definitely un-Democratic.

You see Charlie, unlike you mutts, the buzzed one has gotten his seat at the table of gubmint cheese so now other then needing votes to keep his largess flowing he considers you vermin as toilet paper for him.

I agree with the Charlie primitive, that the buzzy one doesn't belong on Skins's island, but for an entirely different reason.

There's four primitives of truly remarkable quality and caliber; my fellow alum Skins, my good pal Manny, the brooklynite primitive, and the buzzy one.  None of them really belong there; there's not a primitive worthy to shine any of their shoes.

I know I'm a minority opinion on this matter, but the last time the buzzy one was here, we finally learned of his accomplishments in real life, and they aren't small.  So despite that the buzzy one's politics and attitude about religion suck, and would contaminate even a landfill, one's got to respect that he knows his stuff, in his particular area of expertise, and one hopes he profits mightily in it.

Skins gets a "pass" for hanging around on Skins's island because after all he runs it, makes some spending money off of it.  My good pal Manny gets excused because someone has to twit the crude coarse primitives, and Manny's got the talent to do it, to pull the primitives' legs.

But the brooklynite primitive and the buzzy one really have to get away, and go hang out with people of their own class.

Yet people with only a HS diploma and a vocational education can make damn good money and be debt free. A college education isn't meant for everyone.

Stupid liberals think degrees in worthless subjects are worth going into debt for, and then complain about the debt.

What an ignorant snob.

When I took Accounting at the local JC, my prof was a CAP, had worked at one of the major accounting firms, and was running her own (non-accounting) business - i.e. doing what she taught.

When I took Business Law at the local JC, my prof was a practicing lawyer who also served as a judge when one of the full-time judges was ill or otherwise unavailable.

Judging from the sort of person who keeps bellyaching for free college...

...they're too stupid to be allowed to breed and should be allowed to die of exposure.

So:

* Do your general education courses and as many major-specific course as possible at a JC rather than at a pricey private or state university;

* Avoid student loans to the degree possible, including having a job; limit borrowing to tuition and books - don't borrow $$ to party or buy cars;

* Pick a major that leads to a remunerative career that has a future.

It's work, but it's far from impossible.

These idiots should read up - and listen to those who described ON THEIR OWN DAMN CESSPOOL - on how Germany does their FREE education.  HINT#1 (D)Ullards - It's not completely free.  The rest you can dig out of your mountains of dreck, stupidity and utter cluelessness.

OK, I'll give you another one.  Most of you 'tards would never see an actual University.

That's it.  Have fun, infants!

And yet somehow to snobbish clowns like Buzzy...that is not as useful towards an education as it is receiving the same information from someone who has never set foot in the real world and used said learning for real purposes.

How is anyone getting a better education from someone who has never left the "safe space" of a classroom?

I dunno, that Ivy League tuition seems pretty substantial.

The benefits of having an Ivy League diploma are a bit less substantial or certain. though. Supposedly, the "best" law firms, etc. Look for the Ivy Label, but there are a limited number of such plum jobs, and having lots of Ivy League (or Stanford, or ...) grads out there means there'll be bunches of such grads with huge student loan debts in jobs that won't pay down those debts.

I know the Progs' response to that dilemma, but the real solution - from the students' side - is better/wiser choices by students, not theft legalized by government (whether from lending institutions or from taxpayers).

The problem with your solution, is that it requires the DUches to take personal responsibility,  make smart decisions, and 'man up', so to speak. None of those things will ever happen,  as that would mean the DUches would have to put their feelings aside and do something that makes sense. I think the  universe will implode before that happens.

I could kick myself right now. Many lives ago, when I was 18 and right out of high school, a friend of mine's dad was a plumber who owned his own company. He offered me a job and told me he'd teach me everything he knew. Imagine, I'd have gotten a quality education in a trade that would have paid big time, AND been paid to learn.

Being young and stupid, I had my nose in the air and didn't want to get dirty. I've have made a mint over my lifetime and been retired by now.

I want to go back to when I was 18, knowing what I know now.
