Students: Rename building called 'Lynch' after ex-president (not the Onion)
ANNVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Students at a small Pennsylvania college are demanding that administrators rename a building called "Lynch Memorial Hall" because of the racial overtones of the word "lynch."
The building is named after Clyde A. Lynch, who was president of Lebanon Valley College from 1932 until his death in 1950.
Students want school officials to either rename the building entirely or add Lynch's first name and middle initial, saying the word recalls the public executions of black men by white mobs in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
It was included on a list of demands that students presented to the school on Friday. Other demands include a more diverse curriculum, more sensitivity training for staff and regular surveys of the racial climate on campus.

I guess when students are desperately seeking stuff to be offended about a sign that includes the word "Lynch" is an irresistible target.

When I'm interviewing grads to fill openings one of the questions I will be asking is if they participated in any of this crap. Should they say yes, I will finish the interview, nicely tell them we'll be in touch and then toss the resume in the garbage can.

.
At least lead them on before giving them the old heave ho.
Then we can watch the DUmp to see we find them.

To remain consistent and intellectually honest, these delicate flowers should demand obama name a new Attorney General since the last name of the current AG has racial overtones.

Man, I would have been so out on my ass in 5 minutes in college when I went (early 80s). This stuff is such crap!

Same with me, Sue. Then again, my school was known as a relatively conservative school.

I wouldn't laugh too hard. These kinds of dangerous morons have been practically running the nation for almost 8 years. This new breed of fools will also have voting power. We are in a very precarious place as a country right now.

I actually never had to deal with that type of crap when I went mostly because it was nights and weekends with other adults.

It's getting really hard to hire younger kids anymore. We have pretty much stopped with a few exceptions. The last 6 or 7 years the only employees that have been good are the older generations (30 and above) and hispanics.

I attended the Univ. of Illinois for 1 year from fall of 79 to spring of 80. There were hundreds of signs in dorm windows telling the Iranians to go home.
A lot has changed at universities since those days.

Dude, lemme give you a hint. IF you get a resume for a job opening with a major in womens studies, minority studies, playground engineering, a major in dance with a minor in african-american literature and so on, those should be hints. DON'T even call them for an interview. You just know they'll ask if there is a "safe space with soft music and coloring books" should anyone "offend" them in any way.
Save your time.
Just sayin...

Yes, mine too (in Boehner's district and Paul Ryan got his start there and worked for Boehner -- don't blame him for that, this was the 80s). Now? Probably not so much, even in southwestern Ohio considering the school changed the mascot name from Redskins to Red Hawks. There's a "red" flag for ya!
When I went there, you could tip more cows than libs

DUmmies are not cognizant of the law of unintended consequences by and large, and even with the rare DUmmy that is, it is only after the fact that they become consciously aware of it. Followed closely by excuses, blaming republicans, and playing the race card.
Not a good set of qualities for a potential employee.
