If anyone believes that fascism can never come to America...
Last edited Thu Nov 26, 2015, 03:55 PM - Edit history (1)
They should take a closer look at Donald Trump.
Other than missing the visually symbolic icons of fascism at this point, what about him that isn't fascist?
He tried the militarization of himself as a military school student, which didn't catch on, of course. But if it did, I don't doubt that he'd be running around in jodhpurs, jackboots and khaki shirts with epaulets and fake medals for his rambling speeches by now.
He appeals to naked nationalism, decrying minorities as an internal enemy to be expunged, calling for military solutions abroad, encouraging thugs to attack his detractors, all on a virulently right-wing platform. His own egotism is promoted as "leadership" and his own narcissism runs amuck, while basking in the adornment of his angry and disaffected mob rallies.
Trump is a pure fascist of the classical sense and the only people who can stop him are Americans who refuse to fall in line with his fascist beliefs.
Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

69. The German people were not stupid, but they allowed Hitler to take power
Blame all our problems on minority groups, stir up militaristic ultra patriotic fervor, iconsider basic civil liberties as a hindrance or threat to our safety, and a well financed propaganda machine. Unfortunately our political system has become all about personalities. There is no dispassionate discussion of issues. The candidates are more interested in their own ambition and will attack their opponents without any concern for offering ideas to move the country forward.
Who has been working overtime for the last 8 years to divide the country? Who makes their political opponents into enemies? Who breaks out into violence at every opportunity?

25. The continuing rightward lurch of the GOP is terrifying.
The things that they have said and proposed since the Paris attacks are stunning in the approximation to historical atrocities that they are willing to revisit.
Registrations.
Symbols to differentiate.
Detention camps.
Jesus ****ing Christ. They are literally suggesting a return to the Final Solution.
I am sitting here in abject horror that these kinds of suggestions do not end a candidate's career let alone that they propel and keep Trump in the lead.
This cannot be allowed.

40. That's correct...I had to stop watching Man in the High Castle. Not only is it too close to reality in 21st century America, but way too dark for even me (my better half still can't believe that's possible.) Heir Trump is too dangerous even as a third party spoiler. Lets hope and pray he finally implodes like Carson. His only talent seems to be bringing out the absolute, ugly worst in certain Americans.
OFFF(ace). You are scared because of a book written in the 1960s???

46. We already live under fascist control
Michigan, where I live, even the dems go along with the fascist controlled Gov, house and senate. Majority of the state and federal government is under fascist control. Fascism isn't about military control but corporate control of the government.

I'm slowly converting him <3
Yeah... not gonna happen.
I hope we hurry up to the final solution of the DUmp Monkiez. They are really starting to get on my nerves.

Uh, I'm loathe to pour damp water on Lamond's holiday, but doesn't he have something else he's supposed to be doing, something that's far more important because a human life depends upon it?
It's been more than two months now, since he promised to find the Bernie bully who threatened the safety and life of bravenak.
And he hasn't done a damned thing.
In the meantime, bravenak's compelled to live her daily life in terror, not knowing if some crazed Bernie bully is coming up to her from behind, to stick a stiletto into her kidneys.
But apparently Lamond doesn't care.

15. Fascism is right wing populism.
Fascism is closer to socialism wrapped up in patriotism. When America, if ever, embraces total socialism or communism, the left will see the light and become suddenly patriotic.

We should never read "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu.
We should never read "Mein Kampf" by Adolf Hitler...Hillary's namesake.
We should never read "Das Kapital" by Karl Marx.
We should never read "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky.
We should never know what our adversaries and nemesis think.

That's ok, most DUmmies never read them either.

The more histrionic they get the more one realizes they know what 2016 is bringing them.

They've started very very early this year.

They sense a certain wind that's coming.
And as foretold, they, the chaff among us, will be blown away.
Too bad for the primitives.

Wrong again, noob bern-out. That's called crony socialism.

They realize that the pendulum is shifting sides. When it has swung far, far to the Left (such as the last seven years), it must swing back at least as far to the Right, and probably farther to the Right, to maintain the equilibrium that is the United States of America.
They fear that swing back. Their problem is that it's coming.
And there is nothing they can do to stop it.

Nope, there isn't.
Trump is really problematic for them. Most of his initial support isn't from conservatives. Its from "Blue Collar' types. - Including many conservative Democrats.
They don't like Hillary.
Sanders is too far left for them.
They don't like career politicians.
So, they see the rabidly pro business, pro growth capitalist as a solution to an America in economic decline. One with a proven record of success. - Yes, a few of his ventures failed - but the 4B in his pocket suggests he has had more wins than losses.
Also, one doesn't get to be a billionaire in New York 'just because' - with all of the regulation, taxation and extra financial scrutiny as compared to nearly every other state. - Also - If Trump becomes POTUS - he will be taking a gigantic pay cut. - The only 'gains' are bragging rights, and secret service protection. (If you consider those gains.. I really don't.)
So, people are taking him at his word. Compare that to Clinton, who nobody trusts. (Sorry DUmmies, Sanders is not going to be your nominee, no matter how hard you pray to the FSM)
I don't see Trump going anywhere at this time, unless he makes a gigantic error, or decides to end his campaign.
