People who don't understand progressive tax rates should shut up
My son-in-law told my other daughter (not his wife) that Bernie wants to tax incomes of $700K at 90% and $150K at 70%.
Even if he was correct, he gave the impression the higher rates would be on the entire amount.
I'll straighten him out when I get a chance but this is the bullsh*t we are dealing with.

And he told her Bernie is a "socialist". This from a Marine who collects disability checks and VA benefits.

I understand the screw-the-rich, success-punishing "progressive" income tax. It's legalized theft.
And in answer to the knee-jerk question that any DU-member chancing to see this post would ask, my household income has never been over $100K. The "progressive" income tax scheme doesn't gore my ox.

In a certain sense Bernie isn't a classic Socialist, since he hasn't as far as I know come out in favor of state ownership of the means of production or alternatively state allocation of resources, production levels, and prices by technically-private businesses...of course the regular Democrats want all production so tied up with interlocking and often conflicting laws and regulations to address every little

As for that Marine...he EARNED whatever disability check and VA benefits he's getting. He didn't create some limp dick excuse for why he can't work like your waste of space Libtard brethren do. More than likely he collects his check because he served in places like Fallujah or Camp Leatherneck or some other shit hole FOB doing his best to make sure some Jihadi group blew themselves up in a hot dusty land instead of outside his mother-in-laws house...and the thanks he gets from you is an unwarranted ungrateful load of shit.

Whenever there is discussion of the nearly 50% in this country that pay no federal income tax you always brush it off by talking about all the other taxes they pay,sales,property,SS etc.
Why is it then when the conversation rolls around to how the "wealthy" should be taxed at 50-70% this is forgotten?
I am probably in what would be considered lower middle class and all taxes combined am in the 50% range so a person earning enough to trigger your magical progressive income tax bracket would be moved to a 75-95% total tax burden.
Meanwhile all you mutts do is talk about how you should not have to work for a living thus putting you at best into a 0-25% tax burden area.
I know my numbers are rough estimates but bet are not far off.
Given that capital is very mobile (look up British tax exiles) do you actually think that is going to work?
