Thought last night debate was pretty decent and it is becoming very evident that there is a divide between the GOP and the GOPe candidates. Cruz was a 100% correct last night when he stated "if the GOP embraces amnesty Clinton will win."
The big winners (and one big loser) at Milwaukee GOP debate
First, Fox Business is a big winner. This debate is what all the other debates should have been. The questions were substantive, the candidates had time, and the moderators did not try to be the stars of the show. It was really well done and informative.
On the stage, Rubio and Cruz continued to shine. Cruz, again, did not get the most speaking time, but he made every word count. When Rand Paul seemed to get the better of Marco Rubio in an exchange on spending for defense, Cruz came back and devastated both. Cruz took on the ridiculous sugar subsidy, which Rubio supports, and used it as a way to beat Paul on isolationism.
If Cruz and Rubio tied, Fiorina came in after them. She had a commanding performance, to the point that Trump called her out for rudely interrupting.
As for Trump, he was very passive tonight. Statesman Trump is not as fun as reality TV Trump.
Jeb Bush held his own. He had his best performance of any debate. But he did not win the debate. He just failed to fail. He managed not to get eaten alive by Rubio, but his humor fell flat.
The crowd, though, seemed predisposed to Bush and Rubio on stage and that seemed to help Bush’s energy levels.
Lastly, John Kasich is just an insufferable, angry man. Kasich tried to stand out by yelling and interrupting, but it did not work for him. He came across as a temper tantrum prone child while claiming to be the adult in the room by dismissing any new ideas.

Totally agree on all points. For some reason, the establishment just doesn't get it. As for the GOPe... Rubio concerns me. I honestly expect to start seeing an exodus of Jeb supporters/financiers moving to Rubio. Jeb is just completely out of his league with this current crop of candidates. Cruz and Trump seem to be the only ones who get how important immigration is to the many in this country.
Next debate is hosted by CNN... so I'm sure we'll get more "If you were a super hero..." type questions. All in all, I thought the moderators last night were excellent. They let them speak, tried to maintain some semblance of order, and asked excellent questions.

I just can't bring myself to park my butt in front of a TV longer than about 3 minutes, so I find these reviews very helpful. Thanks for posting the pundits' story and your own analyses... :cheersmate:

Good debate. I am concerned about Rubio also. He is a good bull shitter and a RINO imo. Trump and Cruz should go after him for being a quitter, his stance on immigration and personal finances. The liberal press and the lefties will eventually dig up more dirt on him. His turn in the barrel is overdue.
My only complaint is that the candidates with the biggest mouth get the most air time by interrupting or charging in. The moderators should not let them do that. The candidates should put their hand up to be recognized. Letting a candidate go back and forth with another candidate two or three time is BS. Might be good theater but it takes time away from others.

as a sidebar to the discussion about the debate, the blm crowd made an appearance in an attempt to win the hearts and minds of America over to their cause.
Milwaukee police officers are respectful of the American flag because of the liberty it represents.
Black Lives Matter protesters just want the freedom, and couldn’t care less about the flag — or the country that affords it.
Democratic State Sen. Lena Taylor posted several photos of protesters outside the Milwaukee Theatre where the Republican presidential debate was taking place last night, including one of a protester standing on an American flag and pointing at it.

Fortunately the Police in Milwaukee were there to show their respects to the Flag.

Without a doubt Rubio is a RINO. He campaigned that he was pro-illegal immigration in order to get elected to the Senate and then changed his tune. He of course was/is part of the Gang of Eight. Secondly, he had a job to do in the Senate; to date he is the most absentee Senator of all the Senators and his voting record reflects similar abandonment.
I hear what you say about the interruptions and it is becoming more prevalent with each debate. Fiorina seems to be the "queen" of interruptions and unfortunately that is what got her poll numbers up after the first debate. The others are now jumping right in as well (Cruz not so much) otherwise she would continue to hog the stage. I see that as a person who is not only rude but only thinks of herself.

I would also like to see a soft buzzer for those candidates that go over their allotted time; 10 seconds later, a very loud one to silence those that go on and one afterwards to silence those like Rubio, Carly, Kasich and Paul. That would give all candidates equal time.

Someone explain to me why the hell Kasich is even still at the grownup's table?
And a big :bird: to Rand Paul for channeling his daddy Dr. Nutz on exactly the WRONG topic...defense spending.
IMO he's every bit as much of a nutty Liberaltarian as his dad...he's just learned to hide it better for the most part.

If he (Kasich) doesn't get knocked down to the under card debate next time around.. then someone isn't paying attention. There were a couple of times when the camera went to a wide angle.. it literally looked like he was about to walk away from the podium. Then him constantly interrupting, etc.. it was just ridiculous. Cruz spoke really very little in this debate, but still many critics are saying he was one of the top two in the debate (Him and Rubio)... so it's not how loud you are, or even how long you talk, but the substance of your message.. which Cruz kills every single time.
(Edit: And I agree TOTALLY, about Paul)
-
I think about any of them on the top card would do, except for Kasich, Bush, and Paul, for somewhat different reasons. I doubt Trump, Carson, or Fiorina will be the ultimate candidate, also for different reasons, but Carson or Fiorina might well end up with the VP slot.

Outsiders like Trump, Carson plus Cruz, who is a maverick senator, will wind up as our nominee. Rubio, the best bullshitter, and the rest of them should hang it up. The voters want an honest, non politician conservative. The top three above have over 50% of the votes and I look for that percentage to remain constant.
