Missouri president, chancellor quit after football team walks out

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri system's president, Tim Wolfe, and the chancellor of the flagship campus, R. Bowen Loftin, announced on Monday that they were resigning their posts in the face of growing protests by African-American students, the threat of a walkout by faculty and a strike by football players who said the administrators had done too little to combat racism on campus.
Wolfe made the stunning announcement at the start of a special Board of Curators meeting Monday morning that had been scheduled to address the growing crisis at the Show Me state's flagship university. The board voted in favor of accepting his resignation. Several hours later, Loftin, chancellor of the university's Columbia campus, announced he will step down from his post by the end of the year as well.
“I am resigning as president of the University Missouri system,†said Wolfe, who choked up as he announced he was stepping down. “My motivation in making this decision comes from a love of Columbia where I grew up and the state of Missouri. I thought and prayed over this decision. It is the right thing to do … The frustration and anger I see is real, and I don’t doubt it for a second.â€
What led to all this?
At Missouri, students pointed to several recent events on campus that underscore a hostile environment for black students.
Student government president Payton Head, who is black, said in September that people in a passing pickup shouted racial slurs at him. In early October, members of a black student organization said slurs were hurled at them by an apparently drunken white student.
In addition, a swastika drawn in feces was found recently in a dormitory bathroom. Protesters at Missouri galvanized around a group called Concerned Student 1950, which gets its name from the year the university accepted its first black student.
They are all likely hoaxes. I suspect more of this will happen in college campus soon. We are seeing an Occupy-type movement.

If we had a real media, not just kisser uppers to O, perhaps we'd know what else is happening here.
Just conjecture, but I wonder if these protesters are being paid, & if George Soros, the equal opportunity hater, is behind this.

The Missouri University Police Department (MUPD) sent an email to students Tuesday morning urging them to call them and report any hurtful speech they encounter on the campus.
In an email that was flagged by several Missouri-based journalists, the MUPD asked “individuals who witness incidents of hateful and/or hurtful speech or actions†to call the department’s general phone line “to continue to ensure that the University of Missouri campus remains safe.†They suggest that students provide a detailed description of the offender, their location or license plate number, and even to take a picture if possible.

sounds like they are trying to rekindle the hitler youth strategy of telling on your neighbors if they transgress against the unwritten laws of the p.c. society that is now running amok on the campus.
This is the generation of kids who all got participation trophies when they played sports because "everyone is a winner". They have grown up and are now a bunch of whiny over sensitive babies who can't face the reality of the real world where other people have opinions that differ from theirs and it scares them so they need to report these "bad" people who are making them feel "unsafe" with their differing points of view on the world.

Jonathan Butler, a central figure in the protests at the University of Missouri, is an Omaha native and the son of a railroad vice president, the Omaha World-Herald reports.
Butler refused food last week in a move to force the university system's president, Timothy M. Wolfe, from office. Wolfe resigned Monday and Butler ended his hunger strike.
Jonathan Butler played high-school football at Omaha Central High, where he won a state championship, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mizzou, the newspaper reports. He is working toward a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy.
He is a member of a prominent Omaha family. The newspaper says that Butler's father is Eric L. Butler, executive vice president for sales and marketing for the Union Pacific Railroad. His 2014 compensation was $8.4 million, according to regulatory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Talk about privileged right there! Leftists revolts like this are always carried out by people from wealthy backgrounds. Just look at Vladimir Lenin, Che Guevara, and Fidel and Raul Castro. Many Islamists come from more educated and wealthier backgrounds.

Unless I’ve misunderstood this, they’re not voting to fire her. They can’t do that; she’s a member of MU’s communications department, not the journalism school. She has a “courtesy appointment†to the J-school, though, which they’re now debating whether to revoke in light of her taking a steamy dump on the First Amendment in yesterday’s protest video gone viral.
Mark my words: Before this is over, despite inciting a mob of SJWs to deny a reporter’s rights and then all but laughing about it on camera, safe-space enforcer Melissa Click will pose as every inch the persecuted free-speech martyr herself. Gabe Malor expects her to file an epic lawsuit if/when she gets booted from the J-school or, if MU really cracks down, loses her faculty position altogether, although I’d guess the risk of that is low. In today’s campus culture, even an untenured professor would probably have to literally murder someone before losing her job for engaging in “direct action†for The Cause.

I saw another thread on here about a first grade student who was suspended because he play shot another student with an imaginary bow and arrow. Following the lefts "zero tolerance " policy regarding real or imaginary violence, this bitch needs to be shown the door, her lame apology not withstanding.

Mrs. E was a staffer at the MU School of Music and was part of the overall effort to cater to and placate all of the students.
While it's unfair to lump all of these critters in one basket, I'm convinced the water in Columbia is laced with DUMBASS 151, which brings on heightened levels of stupidity in everybody unfortunate enough to drink it.

“If you don’t feel safe coming to class, then don’t come to class,†Dr. Brigham told his students. “I will be there, and there will be an exam administered in our class,†he continued, imploring his students to stand up to the bullies on campus. “If you give into bullies, they win. The only way bullies are defeated is by standing up to them.â€

A Missouri state senator says Mizzou should fire assistant professor Melissa Click and staffer Janna Basler, who were caught on video Monday trying to “muscle†journalists away from student protesters.
“It is incumbent on the University of Missouri to send a strong message that acts of intimidation and violence will not be tolerated on campus,†Senator Kurt Schaefer, a Republican from Columbia, said in a statement. State Senator Kurt Schaefer wants a University of Missouri assistant professor and a staffer fired.
Not only should the two be canned, he added, but their actions should be reviewed by Boone County prosecutors.

A couple hundred University of Michigan students came out to central campus Wednesday evening in a passionate show of support for protestors at the University of Missouri.
As the crowd grew, one organizer from the U of M School of Social Work said black students at the University of Michigan can empathize with the experiences, and the feelings of frustration and isolation, that Mizzou students are voicing.
In a campus of some 40,000 students, just 4% of U of M students are black.
It is spreading.
