U.S. intelligence: Bomb likely brought down plane

The latest U.S. intelligence suggests that the crash of Metrojet Flight 9268 was most likely caused by a bomb on the plane planted by ISIS or an ISIS affiliate, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter. The official stressed that there has not been a formal conclusion reached by the U.S. intelligence community. "There is a definite feeling it was an explosive device planted in luggage or somewhere on the plane," the official told CNN's Barbara Starr.
The assessment was reached, the official said, by looking back at intelligence reports that had been gathered before Saturday's plane crash and intelligence gathered since then. The United States did not have credible or verified intelligence of a specific threat prior to the crash, however, the official said, prior to the incident, "there had been additional activity in Sinai that had caught our attention."
Another U.S. official said the intelligence regarding ISIS is in part based on monitoring of internal messages of the terrorist group. Those messages are separate from public ISIS claims of responsibility, that official said. . .

I thought this was likely. ISIS doesn't have the missile capabilities at that range. Structural failure was possible, but look at where this happened.

4. We'll see how this plays out but I can see it being used to pressure Russia
to back down from their bombing campaign.
It's strange how Isis singled out Russia when the western coalition has apparently been bombing Isis for a year

I have a hard time believing any type of "U.S. intelligence" coming out of the current administration, so color me skeptical at this point.
However, if ISIS did do this to Russia, they may find several things less to their liking in the future.
Let's put it this way; had this been a US plane, I have little doubt that Dear Leader would do less than nothing about it. Maybe a few words and a surgical strike or two to claim he hit back, but he's a wimp. And ISIS knows it.

If the ruskies hold true to form... ISIS is going to have a very bad year. The ruskies do not care what the rest of the world thinks about them. They will carpet bomb ISIS where ever they may be and not think twice about it.

Apparently, the Brits intercepted some "chatter" from known ISIS operatives which led them to conclude that there was a bomb aboard the Airbus.

DUmbos - Putin isn't Obama.
If this proves to be terrorism, there will be many dead ISIS members very, very soon. Putin has no problem with the notion of 'Boots on the ground'. If Putin wants to become a major player in the Middle East (and he does) - then he will need to gain support with a show of strength. going head on after ISIS will bring him favor with middle eastern countries that aren't fans of ISIS.
