Yeah, this is from last year, but it showed up on Survival Blog today, and I think it's relevant.
Creepy website shows how much Facebook knows about you

I've told you in the past that, with just a little information, marketers can figure out more about you than you'd like.
The famous story for this is the father who stormed into a Target complaining that the store had sent his 16-year-old daughter something very personal - coupons for pregnancy supplies!
The punch line: It turned out that the daughter actually was pregnant - the store figured it out based on her purchases before she had told anyone.
So what can the marketers can figure out about YOU? I found a site that will help bring it home. It's called Digital Shadow.
It's actually a promotion for a new video game called Watch Dogs.
Why make someone's quest to rifle through your personal information and easier?

One of the many reasons I am not on Facebook.

I might go on facebook around every few months & my stay is short. Always feel uncomfortable when I login, like big brother & Zuckerberg's cronies are waiting & watching. Oh, I'm sounding a little suspicious.

I post very very little personal there. Mostly smart ass remarks, wishing happy birthday to people I know or have known well over the years. Did post about the passing of my father last year. Mostly because lots of high school, college & other friends knew or met him over the years.

I quite using Facebook almost 2 years ago. I don't belong to any other "social media" site as well. I post in a couple of forums and I'm sure I'm being "tracked" as well.

My main complaint about FB was all the people I don't know, or know through friends of friends, wanting to be friends to count coup (oops, guess that's racist too :whatever:) so they can brag that they've got more friends than X. Also, relatives and friends of relatives, and they're not even my side of the family and most I've never met or met once or twice. Please. If I don't accept them there's drama with the in-laws...and if I do they clutter up my wall with their drivel, and three fourths of it is bullshit trying to make people jealous of them. :thatsright:
