The thread is about CNN announcing who gets to stand where... the gold is a bit further down the message tree:

3. Not thrilled that all our candidates are white and old And all but one are male.

5. How do you propose to correct the issue? I wouldn't want them to put someone up there solely based on their gender or race.
:o ...

65. Same way lack of diversity in other industries ought to be corrected. Democrats have been on the front lines in promoting such initiatives in other arenas; it behooves us to do the same in this one.
You guys already had an Affirmative Action president. It's not turning out real well.

66. Are there no liberals or progressives of color who would make good candidates for POTUS? If that is the case, then that is a serious problem.

64. Well, we have Barack Obama but if offered Cain or Carson I'd have to pass. That said, just because someone's white doesn't qualify them either (look at the whole Republican slate of candidates, Carson aside).
We can just encourage females and people of color to get into the party, but it's getting so nasty that a lot of good people don't want to be involved. And I don't blame them. Even white guys often don't want the job (Speaker of the House, anyone?), and look at all the crap Obama puts up with (Kenyan, birth certificate, even blatant complaints about the n---- in the White House); I'm not surprised others are cautious.
Plus they have to fund-raise and generally have a long slog to get to the White House. It's not surprising, though disappointing, that many don't want to go through the hassle. I don't blame them.

20. Yeah - they give a shit what we think
That's why they keep sending out those phony "What-issues-are-most-important-to-you?" surveys with the "Send Money!" section on the back side. I have asked repeatedly and often, where I could view the results of those surveys and I've never gotten an answer or even an acknowledgement that I'd asked. And why wouldn't they want to share the results of those surveys? They're really just inane questions (always the same ones for that matter!) with answers that any real Democrat would choose the same answers for. But it's all just a ruse to provoke donations - thinking you're fighting the good fight by sending in cash for them to spend as THEY see fit - not as YOU might choose. It's like the pre-ordainment of HRC - just send the money (your dues) and shut up.
I'm convinced those elaborate (and probably expensive) surveys are NEVER EVER tabulated to see what donors say about given issues. You can bet the "donation" side of these mailings gets perfect tabulation - the questionnaire side gets treated to the "circular file".
And what about whichever Dem luminary they affix to these gleaning pleas? It can be Pelosi or Hoyer or Clinton or Reid or...... I often reflect on whether or not the signer has ever SEEN the document that gets sent out as tho it was a personal letter to me...
"Dear Mr. Suckerbait, As I'm sure you know, Democrats are in the minority this time around. Don't you wanna change that, Mr. Suckerbait? This isn't about the idealistic baloney we taunt you with each election cycle - this is about trying to fool you in to throwing in with our corporate financiers like one big, happy family. You'll find that privatized health care and corporate-contrived commerce shenanigans are really that bad once you're immersed in them. That's why we NEED you to play along, Mr. Suckerbait! So please answer the battery of questions we don't ever tally up and give us your credit card information. C'mon now - be a good little Democrat. We've got what you need and WHO you need to get it - all lined up for you. Just send you're money and show up to vote - we'll take care of all the rest. Trust us."
And CAN YOU BELIEVE...... I've gotten TWO mailings from the Democratic Senate - get this..... - asking for donations on the strength of Bernie Sanders popularity!!! Not asking for donations TO Bernie - just money for the Senate because the Dems count him as one of theirs! You hafta know that DWS had a hand in that bit of strategy! It smells like her handiwork (although I'm sure she has plenty of able lieutenants).
The GOP is so obviously a ship of fecal fools, but the ASSumptive DNC is circling in the ceramic whirlpool with them. As Bernie has been saying: we need a POLITICAL revolution - not a partisan one.

15. I hope Bernie's message gets out.
It's Hillary's to lose. I don't know if Bernie will win or not but it's a national stage for his message. People are pissed and are tired of a rigged system (political, economic, trade, etc.). I see it as our last shot at protecting our democracy. I see very little difference between Bill Clinton, GW Bush, BH Obama, and Hillary. If I were the 1% I know who I'd want -Jeb or Hillary. It makes no difference. So I guess it's ours to lose in the end.

One suspects that HRC will be thrown the most time and most softballs.

17. Minimum polling requirement
It looks like the debate should be between Hillary and Bernie.
Should they need to be at least about 1% in the polling?
O'Malley is 0.7
Webb is 0.8
Chafee is 0.2

58. Sanders needs to be careful not to come across as an angry blowhard
His supporters will deny this, but his "straight talking" Brooklyn-style accent will not serve him well in the south or midwest. These are the states, remember, that thought Gore was "too aggressive" because he took a step forward to shake Bush's paw. A candidate who speaks with a perceived pushiness and with a strong northeastern accent will do himself no favors.
"But Orrex, he's packing them in at rallies nationwide."
Sure, but it's far from clear that he's grabbing the fence-sitters or unbelievers. From most of what I hear, he's drawing in those who already "feel the Bern" plus a handful of easy converts. It's less certain that his "straight talking" will appeal so readily to a wider audience.
This is the candidate who, just a few short weeks ago, barked at an NPR interviewer for asking questions that Sanders didn't like. To all but his supporters, Sanders seemed angry and petulant.
Yes, I know: he was simply "telling it like it is," and he has no time for bullshit questions. Well, that's the name of the game in politics--a ton of bullshit questions that the interviewee doesn't like. And if a candidate can't handle a softball NPR interview gracefully, how will the candidate respond to an intense, months-long national barrage of annoying questions?
I will of course vote for Sanders if he miraculously wins the nomination, but I still can't see it happening.

It had more to do with him invading W's personal space the other times in the debate and the sighing and muttering under his breath while W was speaking. Mid-westerners have little patience for douche behavior.

kanye west is chattering about running in 2020. Why dont you white hating DUmmies draft him for a run in 2016 to keep a brutha in the white house since that seems to be the only qualification that matters to y'all?

Correct, actual people did not care about the step, they cared about the fact Gore acted like an arrogant, snotty asshole.
