Once in a millennium storm will last ANOTHER day: Forecasters warn of more rain for the East Coast
The OP is some pix of this truly devastating weather event. I brought it over just because I want to reply to this:

1. Reality check for deniers.
This is a climate change event. These kinds of extreme
events have become more frequent and should be
considered norms now... not odd outlying anomolous
1000 year events.
Hey, ananda, if this 1000-year storm is caused by "climate change," what was the last one caused by???

Indians poking holes in moisture containing clouds with bows and arrows.

That gloBULL warming sure is smart,it affects all the universe but cleverly only in negative ways. :whatever:

Actually, this rain started 12 days ago. It has been raining off and on with no sunshine at my house for the last 12 days.....and it's still raining.

I posted an article in the glow bull warming forum that showed the severity and frequency of storms are on a multi decade decline.
This latest one barely made it to category 4, and rapidly decreased in intensity.
But I'm sure little facts like those won't stop any DUmmies/progs/primitives from waxing poetic.

Exactly - a thousand years ago marks the start of the High Middle Ages. The only 'immigrant' to the western continents - specifically Canada - was Leif Erikson. No SUVs. No Industry. No cutting down the rainforests. A comparatively minuscule human population.. So DUmmies - What caused it a thousand years ago ?

That's easy, aliens.

It was doing that here in North Florida. It lasted nearly 3 weeks. Overcast and it rained hard off and on every day. It sucked.

So apparently the last 999 years were an anomaly. Like the lack of hurricanes.

El Nino and El Nina have a lot to do with it. That's cyclical. I'd like to hear their explanation for a milder hurrican season last year. These don't happen any more than they ever had, it's just that the media covers every single weather situation they can find to get stupid people all panicky & riled up.
My farm pond is drier than it's ever been since we've lived here. We've been here for 15 years. Think I'll start panicking because I'm sure this never ever happened before we got here.

The phrase 'Thousand year storm' does not mean that it was literally 1,000 years ago when the last comparable storm occurred, it just means that over the whole current interglacial climate stage, storms that severe average about one per every thousand years, meaning they could be ten years apart or two thousand years apart in actual timing, but in ten thousand years there will only be around ten of them that bad.

Also, whether it was 1000 years ago or not, the fact that it happens periodically is more proof that it's got nothing to do with climate change. Pretty sure they need to find a new name for it now since climate change has become laughable. When a former engineer whose claim to fame is a bow tie and a kids show is one of your main spokesman, it's time to reevaluate.
