Nooses found after 'Black Lives Matter' rally in Delaware, reports say *Edit* it's bs
September 23, 2015 at 8:32 AM, updated September 23, 2015 at 8:47 AM
Authorities have initiated an investigation after nooses hanging on a tree at the University of Delaware were spotted after a "Black Lives Matter" rally Tuesday night, NBC10 reports.
Following the rally, three nooses were discovered at the university's main campus in Newark, Delaware, just outside of Mitchell Hall, according to reports.
Authorities reportedly took down the three nooses and are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
The rally was held Monday night at roughly 6:15 p.m. following a speaking engagement on campus, reports said.
The nooses were seen the next day in the location the demonstration occurred, according to NBC10.

Edit - Turns out it's bullshit. See post #2.
Another hate hoax or just stupid leftists?

Prior event at campus didn't clean up its floating lanterns = HATE CRIME!!!
NEWARK, Del. --
The University of Delaware says three items found hanging from a tree on campus were not nooses, but remnants of paper lanterns left over from an event.
Interim university President Nancy Targett initially announced Wednesday that the discovery of the items hanging in front of a campus building Tuesday night prompted a hate crime investigation.
But in a statement posted online around daybreak, Targett says the investigation found that the items weren't instruments of a hate crime, but left over from an event on The Green, a campus open space.

17. So did I...
...which is why I immediately checked local coverage.
Unsurprisingly, when emotional attachment to a mistake sets in, some can't let go:

Critics immediately dismissed that conclusion as “a cover-up.†UD officials had initial condemned the apparent hate crime.
“I just believe UD doesn’t want an uproar on campus,†said Keith James, president of the Voices 4 the Voiceless community advocacy group.
James said he and others do not believe UD’s account and said photos the university released showing paper lanterns on a tree “don’t prove anything.â€
...
He said the paper lantern explanation makes no sense, adding, “C’mon, there’s never really been a lantern that big.†Nor would someone have taken down the lanterns’ paper parts and left the rope and wire, he said.
Moreover, James said, UD officials are dismissing concerns, making “it seem as though we’re reacting to something that’s not that big of a deal.â€
It's interesting the way that human minds work.
No, James, the UD is not making it seem that way. It is that way.
The thing is, people get so wrapped up in an emotional attachment that they *know* their emotions are genuine. They are genuine emotions. But emotions aren't always a good way of getting at the factual truth.
Always a good idea, when you see the candidate for 'outrage du jour' to do some additional digging.
careful- calling out obvious common sense will get you banned on DU.

22. You seem to be the emotional one here.
I just posted a story from a reputable source. I added your info to the OP as soon as I saw it. I had no idea who did what. We've seen true stories of bigots doing shit like this. We had an incident at our city jail a few years ago. The lawsuits were settled a few months ago. We've also seen hoaxes.
fake but accurate.

24. It may not be BS
A lot of folks on Twitter are questioning the "paper lanterns" explanation.
Examples:

this whole idea of these so called paper lanterns be left after a month really insults my intelligence

quiggy â€@quiggy 1h1 hour ago
strange how everyone criticizing me for questioning @UDelaware's narrative has racist tweets in their timelines

(That one has some more details including photos challenging the narrative).

I don't believe this paper lanterns statement for a second. We've given more evidence for the nooses than they have for the lanterns...

people who were not there know better. ::)

The true stories are usually minor offenses and greatly outnumbered by the slanderous faux hate crimes created by blacks wanting to create more racism.

My bet is on stupid DUmpster monkeys. They pretend they know better, but they know they don't.

Since the DU is a racist forum full of viscous racists the default position there is to foment black acrimony. :fuelfire:

How about both?

Yeah, my vote is for stupidity. I'm reluctant to blame malice or conspiracy when stupidity is an entirely adequate explanation. I do find this DU post humorous and ironic:

The dude was almost prophetic! The race-baiters promptly responded to reality by invoking conspiracy!
I could not tie one, but it took me a fraction of a second to see the cords in the pic are not at noose. And nooses don't usually have wire frames such as can be seen with one of the cords. But, of course, facts that contradict race-baiting narratives are themselves racist!
