Hmm interesting
yesterday we covered the ALEC event in town (and the massive demonstration)
We applied for credentialing at the event. They do not take bloggers, but we are credentialed media, a for profit paper.
From the coverage from other stations I suspect ALEC did not credential a few others, in this case corporate media. We saw some of the people who were credentialed to cover the convention... one is from a local RW blog, yeah I know the irony drips. So this is how you create a bubble
That is ok. I quoted Dolores Huerta calling ALEC a fascist organization.
The rest of the media stuck to the at most 1000 demonstrators, they missed their cue by at least 2500.
And lord knows my shoulders are extremely sore at this moment. It is the 60 pound pack. I need to get out of it a few party flavors that we took just in case the cops went to town...

I know in the morning I have to write a story of the DA coming to the NCAAP meeting...(let's just say she was not a happy camper), but also of the rest that happened. I wish, to be honest, it stayed in just the DA leaving fast, though a side door.

for me watches have a slightly different meaning, due to work. As I told another poster above, turn the scanner on.
In fact, right now we have a watch for high winds, and temps are not quite up there, but if we had a brush fire going, it could be up to the races. The potential is very low. If we had temps at least 10 degrees higher and humidity down to the teens, and winds of 40 plus, they would be issuing a warning. In fact, a red flag could be feasible.
(And we have a fire bug, we think)

I apologize for the major re-edit. I hit the button before I was finished copy/pasting in what I had intended for the complete post.
-
I had to use Duck Duck Go to find out what ALEC is. It's an organization for conservative state legislators. Based on that, the SD MSM's estimate of 1000 demonstrators, and nadin's estimate of 3000 demonstrators, there were probably 300-500 actual demonstrators.
I'm guessing her "a local RW blog" is some one who also writes for Breitbart, PJMedia, American Thinker, or some similar major conservative online news/opinion site.
"... a few party flavors that we took just in case the cops went to town," since an iPhone weighs less than a pound and a digital camera with extra memory cards less than 5 pounds, I wonder what Mrs. Malaprop's "party flavors" might have been. Possibly something with a potential to land her and the rest of her "We" in jail if used?
BTW, my guess is that unless she lifts weights, her "60 pound pack" is probably more like 20 or 25 pounds. I doubt she could lift and carry 1/3-1/4 her body weight, :-) .
-
Forgot to include this:
I quoted Dolores Huerta calling ALEC a fascist organization.
That's so 1960s! Is that racist old fossil too senile to be creative with - or at least update - her leftist epithets?

The 60 pound pack is probably able to carry up to 60 pounds and she had a lot less weight in there. Or, and more likely, maybe it had two 30 pound flak jackets-one for her and one for the good rig "just in case the cops went to town".

Finding a flak jacket for her the size beached whale might be difficult. On the up-side, if she found one it would probably protect all the way down to her cankles.

You'd probably have to look at add-on armor packages for the M1A1 tank, for starters. :whistling:

Well, you have to remember there has to be enough room for the good rig, the not so good rig, the nomex suit, powdered milk, and whatever else a bald dwarf needs to survive out in the harsh land of south California. I did some digging, and I managed to uncover some actual footage of nads with her pack:

[to the tune of Oh, Susanna, Elmer Fudd style:]
Oh, San Diego, don't you cry for me!
I've got the good rig and nomex on, out here in East County.
Powdered milk, it's where you find it, and when I find that stuff,
I'll hoard and hoard and hoard and hoard, I never have enough!
I trudge East County and brave the flames, I trudge each weary mile,
I'll tramp and trudge and trudge and tramp until I find my pile!
Oh East County, don't you cry for me,
I've come from San Diego with peanut butter in my shoe!

See, here I was speculating her party flavors would be fruit flavored condoms or something. And when she got no takers, they'd double as balloons.
