New data showing that the US had its 12th-hottest summer on record may not, at first glance, appear particularly significant or alarming.
But in announcing the news, climate scientists have pointed out that, of the 11 American summers that were recorded as warmer than 2015’s, seven have occurred in the last 15 years; the other four were all during the “Dustbowl†1930s heatwaves that plagued the US during the Great Depression.
And, as part of the climate warming trend globally, next Thursday a federal agency is set to announce the latest worldwide figures that are likely to show that it was officially the hottest summer ever recorded on the planet, and the hottest first eight months of the year to date.

On Thursday it’s expected officially to be confirmed that the first eight months have been the warmest on record so far and the warmest three-month period June to August, constituting the hottest summer ever logged for the northern hemisphere.
Crouch pointed out that in the first seven months of 2015, worldwide figures had shown that the globe was almost a degree warmer than average and August figures are likely to have been boosted by the strengthening El Niño pattern.
“It’s extraordinary how much of the ocean is at record warm temperatures – about 75% to 80% of the world’s oceans are at record or near record warmth,†he said.
“I’m at a loss for words. It’s definitely not good.â€

And everyone there was saying how unseasonably warm it was, Cape Cod's waters were unusually warm, too, compared to previous years. California has water rationing.
And the deniers will all say it's no big deal, come the first snowflakes that fall in December.
Why are you worried about the deniers, Marc, when your carbon footprint is almost as big as your assprint? Lurking DUmmies, why is Marc allowed to crisscross the globe, having pictures of his fat ass and his ugly wife taken with other climate hypocrites? 'Ooooh, I was just in Cape Cod and they said it was hot! Then I was in Alaska and it was warm! Now I'm back in Germany and it's hot here, too! I'll be in Dallas and New York next week, and I'll see if it's warm there, too!'
Is climate change manmade, or isn't it? If it is, why is Marc allowed to travel the globe like he's, oh, Barack 0bama or someone? Why is Marc special? Oh, I know: he HAS to travel. Having lived in/near CA for over 60 years, I can assure DFW of a couple of things. CA is usually dry all summer long (though summer 2015 ... wait! that's this year! ... has been wetter than average). Summer is part of CA's fire season.
In the 1970s the Enviros and some guy named Jerry Brown (why does that name sound so familiar?) brought construction of new reservoirs to a near halt (and new power plants as well, but that's another issue). CA's population and water usage have increased considerably over the past 40 years, but CA's reservoir capacity has not. Am I the only one who sees that as a recipe for disaster? Maybe even MIHOP? I suppose if I were posting this on DU I might be the only one to recognize and acknowledge it.

* A decent thermometer with a standardized scale has existed less than three centuries;
* Widespread temperature records for the Eastern US may have been logged for 2 centuries;
* Widespread temperature records for CA and AK may have been logged for 1- 1 1/2 centuries;
* Widespread temperature records for vast parts of the globe have been logged for less than a century, sometimes disrupted by WW1 and WW2;
* Data on Arctic, Antarctic, etc. ice extent go all the way back to 1979.
IOW, we have very little direct data older than a century, and none at all older than 3 centuries, yet Warmistas are making dire and specific predictions about a millennia-long phenomenon? My vocabulary is insufficient to express how absurd and ludicrous Warmistas' ideas and claims are!

I read an article the other day, linked at Drudge, think it was NBC news, where all these third world countries are now demanding from the UN that first world nations pay for their natural disasters since they are caused by globull warming. Now we are seeing the true motive and they are not even trying to hide it.
Read somewhere else that some PhD type in solar cycles is saying that we are heading to another mini ice age like happened back in the 1600's or so.

48 degrees here this morning, high going to be mid 70's......felt good for awhile with just a shirt on, then I got a little chilly.
50 years ago tomorrow, it was 103 degrees at 1:00 in the afternoon. How do I know that? It was opening day of dove season and we were celebrating. A friend of mine had been drafted and he was leaving the next day for the ARMY.
Boy was it hot. We got drunk and started shooting at high flying doves. We ran out of beer later in the afternoon and began to sober up a bit.....then we discovered those weren't high flying doves, they were gnats..... :-)

Same here in MO. Couple of hot weeks, rather than two and a half months of sweltering temps playing tag with the triple digit line like usual, and more rainfall to boot. If this year was exceptionally hot, I'll take 30 more like it with pleasure.
