Song idea I'm working on in support of Black Lives Matter...looking for feedback
(This is written in "call and response" form, with the response phrases indicated in parenthesis. The idea is that people might infiltrate some sort of event(a Trump or Walker rally, perhaps, if security looks loose)looking clean-cut and in suits, and then break into it on a cue. I wrote these words to a particular hymn tune..."Amazing Grace"...but they might work with other tunes or as spoken word.
Open to suggestions...wondering if this works...
Tune: Amazing Grace
Say Their Names,(Say Their Names) Say Their Names,
Say Their Names(Say Their Names), Say Their Names.(Please Say Their Names)
They have sisters, they have brothers
They have strong, grieving fathers and mothers
They live on only if we
Say Their Names, Say Their Names
Black lives taken(lives taken), for no reason(for no reason)
Every day(every day) every season(every season)
By the men(those cold men), with a badge, and a gun.
Seldom punished, seldom shamed
It’s the victims who get blamed,
Time to end these lethal games
Say Their Names.
There are those(there are those), who will say(who will say)
“ALL Lives Matterâ€(All Lives Matter) come what may
They mean well(Oh so well), but they don’t(no they don’t) understand
It’s not their kin being shot
Buried in the family plot
When it is, it will be time to
Say THOSE names.
(Next to last verse would be a list of the latest names of those killed, with "Say Their Names" as the response line, followed by
"We will not let you forget,
For it isn't over yet
Let their memories keep the flame
Say Each Name...Say Each Name...)
Those who died(those who died)were still young(yes, so young)
Still just growing( still growing)fast and strong(still so strong)
They had not(they had not)had a chance(not a chance), not at all(no not at all)
They were cut down where they stood
In the streets of their own neighborhood.
Now they’re pictures set in frames
Say Their Names, Say Their Names
-thanks to anyone who responds to this.
I'm sure posters here can really help this person out. He does say thanks to anyone who responds.
Let's respond..:)

That song is so gay. :lmao:

It's already too long. Pass if on to Nadin and I'm sure it can be longer.
Really, you should stick to one theme. Either stick to the importance of saying the names of the poor innocent thugs who attack the police and end up getting shot or write a song about how unintentionally racist the people are who say "All Lives Matter" are.
If it were me writing a song, I would focus on the guy who got put into a choke hold because of the hysterical anti-smoking laws in New York City and maybe draw comparisons to the black market in socialist countries and how liberalism really killed that guy like liberalism killed the black family.
-
If his audience doesn't know the tune to Amazing Grace any better than the primitive Ken Burch does, it won't matter. I know the tune, and this dimwits words make it a real strain to match it to the tune at all.
Tune: Amazing Grace
Here we stand with B-L-M
No saving a wretch like me
We once was dumb, but now we're clowns
Was loud, but now we're freaks.
Eh, that's why I'm not a song writer.
Think it's funny this dolt wants to sneak some flash mob into Republican events and break out in song. Never tell a liberal they can't invent a more stupid idea.

'Have gun, will travel'
Reads the card of a man
That may not be what the DUmmy had in mind.
I shot the sheriff,
But I did not shoot the deputy.
DUmmies lie, all the time.
Kill the white people,
Kill the white people,
Kill the white people,
But buy my record first.
By George, I think he's got it!
-
Just when I think there is a lower limit to their stupidity.
Their stupid is nearly infinite.

I am seriously tempted to reply to him that this is in incredibly poor taste right now, considering the execution of an officer just a few days ago, and the cold-blooded murder of an officer in Illinois just yesterday. Or--how about the young woman who never even got to bring her premature baby home from the hospital before a thug blew her away.
Come on, Ken. Say THEIR names. Say the names of their grieving children.
More and more everyday, I hate the DUmmies.

O.M.G. What an embarrassment. Have you no shame, Mr. Burch?
:stoner: :stoner: :stoner:
I'll admit to hearing this as I started reading it:

Try getting that out of your head now.

Well, Ken Buttmunch, I see a problem right there.
Let the beat-downs commence.

I was thinking this would be a good theme song for the racists of BLM...

Black Lives Matter
My wife is getting fatter
Bernie is so old he can't hold his bladder
Bill likes women who eat cake batter
And finish with a hearty

Boring, pretentious, talentless crap. The rhythm/ melody sounds almost nothing like 'Amazing Grace.' It's also too long, protest songs need to be short enough for most participants to memorize them quickly.
Plus, in order for it to be a true BlackLivesMatter theme, it would need to have as part of its lyrics something like "Kill all cops, shoot their cracker @$$es. Pigs must die, kill 'em all, brothers!" Plus, throw in a few F- bombs and the N- word a couple times. Maybe then it'll be more in keeping with the themes and concepts behind that repulsive movement.
Burch probably envisions it as catching on and going down like the "Hanging Tree" song from 'Mockingjay,' but in real life, the best he could probably hope for would be maybe a half- dozen dope- addled losers crashing a Republican event and shrilly shrieking a couple verses (Probably getting the lyrics wrong, too) before getting tossed out by security.

H5! Excellent point!
Also, like Maverick1987, I kept being reminded of the Destiny's Child song "Say My Name."

Wait a second.
A white guy is trying to write a protest anthem for Black Lies Matter?
Paternalist, White privilegifying pig! The valiant Revolutionaries of Color have no use for your pasty poetry. You may as well have written it in Afrikaans, you swine!

That surprises you? The Erich Bloodasses and Randys and MohRokTahs of DU have appointed themselves black for the purposes of "social activism." Notice how none of them ever DO anything about it other than post on DU.
