I saw a woman shoplifting a dozen eggs from the supermarket.
She noticed me noticing, but she looked hungry and afraid, so I looked away and did nothing.
I don't like living in a nation where people are hungry and afraid.

Note - I'm actively involved in community hunger issues and I'm not 'picking at the look away'. You have a good heart - and now you've seen what every day hunger in America looks like.
If you have a few extra dollars - canned tomatoes and pasta (when you can buy them in a 3 for $1 or 4 for $4) are huge in the north east food banks. And with apple season coming - if you drive by a bushel seller/farm - that's like gold to someone who is trying to eat. We don't get enough product.

7. I'd have told her to put the eggs in my cart plus any other staples she needed. No one should have to risk jail because they're hungry. No one should have stock stolen out of their stores by hungry people with no money.
Eggs are a real luxury food if you're poor. I had to rely on powdered when I baked during my poverty periods. Powdered eggs have the advantage of keeping for a very long time. They're just not great by themselves, scrambled, although they're edible.

These are the same kooks who tell us we as citizens should be upset because big multi-national corps are stealing from us. If they're willing to let someone steal from a store, then why should I be concerned about the thefts they believe are taking place?
Consistency and thinking ahead aren't exactly something that libs are good at doing.
Also, always love to note how many of them are willing to lend a hand or some money to others when they don't actually have to do anymore than claim that they would.

Raise your hand if you think this really happened? Of all the things you could steal to eat, why eggs? Seriously, produce, bread, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, flip top cans of tuna or spaghetti-o's, but eggs would be rather awkward to get out the door.

I used to work at a grocery store many years ago. You wouldn't believe the things people would try to steal. We would not have held someone over a dozen eggs, they would have just been let go and told not to come back.

Our store changed its policy on wrangling shoplifters after a work buddy pinned one between a privacy fence and his F150. I was riding shotgun. The criminal didn't get away, though. :-)
