Unarmed US Marines foil suspected terrorist attack
Additional details to earlier reports --
Unarmed US Marines foil suspected terrorist attack onboard high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris after they take down Kalashnikov-wielding Moroccan gunman known to intelligence services
A group of unarmed US Marines on board a high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris foiled a terrorist attack after a gunman opened fire with an assault rifle, wounding three people.
The 26-year-old Moroccan national, who was known to security services, came out of the toilet brandishing the gun and opened fire. Fortunately, two US Marines were nearby and overpowered him before he could massacre passengers.
The suspected terrorist had at least nine full magazines of ammunition holding almost 300 rounds. He was also carrying a knife.
Unfortunately, one of the Marines was shot and is believed to be in a critical condition.
Keep fighting, Marine.
This next part leaped out at me --
Belgian journalist Marin Buxant Tweeted that the US Marines were on leave in Brussels when they spotted the man and followed him on the train. When the suspect went into the toilet, the Marines recognised the sound of a weapon being armed and decided to act immediately.

5. Good guys without guns foil bad guy with assault rifle and lots of cartridges - this is not good for the NRA.
Congrats Marines!!!
:bird:
Highly trained warriors unarmed due to pussification of the west disarm muslim maniac before he can kill others. I'd say the NRA isn't doing enough.

7. Just like gun control kept the shooter from acquiring a rifle and nine 30-round magazines.
Right?

18. No, it kept other shooters from being armed
Armed terrorists like this would be everywhere silt you had your way.
You think the muslim terrorist bought his guy legally? In France? You are an idiot.

26. Exactly. Gun nuts are ****ing cowards. Small, tiny, men who carry large weapons to make up for their shortcomings. Not one would ever do what those guys did. I'm sure they benefited from years of training, but still.

Just hate to see the pro-gun trolls try to kill the vibe on this thread.
The only ones being little bitches are all the anti-gun homos on DU.

Profiling.... [I was going to say ARRRRRRRRRRRRR-my training, sir! but they were marines...]

17. If he was walking down the street like that wouldn't the gendarmerie have spotted him, too?
Guess they didn't... unless you are trying to imply this is some sort of redflag op?

Now for sure we all know!

23. Our police could take lessons from these Marines.
Two of them managed to subdue a dangerous armed suspect while it takes a dozen cops to bring down unarmed black folk in the US. My heart goes out to the injured Marine and I hope he pulls through.

They didn't recognize him, those Marines must have super skills like DUmmy Hoyt and were able to tell just by looking at him that Haji was armed, what side he was carrying on, if he had a round in the chamber, etc.

They were US Marines, expertly trained for a long time on how to handle situations just like that, and even then, one of the Marines was injured in the process.

DUmmies and MSM get it wrong again. It was a U.S. Airman and a national guard member.
But it was AMARICANS and one older Brit that saved the day while the train crew ran and hid.

Yep....below copied from link.
The actor told Paris Match: 'We heard screaming passengers in English, 'He shoots! He shoots! He has a Kalashnikov!''
The actor, who was travelling with his two children and his girlfriend, said: 'Suddenly, members of the crew ran into the hallway and their faces were pale.'
He said the staff hurried towards their own car on the train and opened it 'with a special key' before they locked themselves inside.
Mr Anglade claims he and other passengers banged on the door and shouted at staff to open up, but their cries for help were ignored.
He said: 'Nobody replied, there was radio silence. It was terrible and unbearable, it was inhumane.
'The minutes seemed like hours and protected my children with my whole body, telling them everything was fine.'

Hoyt is an absolute hoot. I'd recognize him anywhere as he walks down the street armed with cans of beans and excess bicycle tires to protect himself against legal conceal carry folks.

Based on this AP article (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_FRANCE_TRAIN_ATTACK?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-08-21-14-59-34), there were three Americans who disarmed and subdued the terrorist-wannabe: a USAF airman from CA; a National Guard member from OR; and a student at CSU Sacramento; all friends travelling together. The airman is still hospitalized, due to non-life-threatening throat wounds from a box cutter. The terrorist-wannabe was another Known Wolf.
How this is bad news for the NRA, I can't see. They were travelling unarmed, recognized the cocking of the AK-47 (or -74?), realized that doing nothing would likely be fatal for them, had the skills to do what they did, and the element of surprise (I doubt the terrorist-wannabe had enough respect for his intended victims to believe they might do anything more than cower in hope that he ran out of ammo before killing them all). And these Americans did it. Had they been armed they would have had the advantage of surprise, and the encounter would likely have been more brief, and the airman uninjured.

I don't know what the gun laws are in Belgium but I doubt they could have been armed, even if they wanted to be. Since it was in Europe, I don't think the NRA has any influence one way or the other.
Lesson to be learned, Americans won't f*ck around.

Never fired, only dropped once.

I also doubt it would have been legal for them to be armed. Another example of gun "control" laws setting up law-abiding citizens to be victims of those whose life-style is breaking laws. I wonder whether EuroLand train stations have security screening for weapons, and if so, how the terrorist-wannabe got that AK-47 (or -74) and multiple loaded clips on board that train (e.g. planted by an accomplice?).
Jihadis won't learn that lesson without meeting 72 Helen Thomases in eternity.

You mean to tell me that they were in service long enough to be loaded?.....for French weapons, that's extremely used.

We aren't allowed to carry our own weapons in France...even if we could bring them with us when we're station here they aren't allowed in most European countries.
Idiot.

Isn't most of EuroLand under some form of strict gun control? Except for the Swiss?
And yet mass shootings (Charlie Hebdo) and attempted mass shootings happen? Damn those Swiss and their gun-fetish!
