What is a Democratic Socialist?

I find these post to be very funny.
This primitive post something that states up front that "a Democratic Socialist is not a Marxist Socialist or a Communist," but then the whole explanation of who and what they are falls under the definition of "collectivism", which is the foundation of socialism/communism (and a few more "isms"). Of course they frame who they are in a positive way and what they oppose in a negative, while not really adhering to the true definition of Capitalism and businesses and their purpose, etc...
Might as well say "So we don't claim to be that word specifically, but we are generically in that we are all collectivists."
Collectivism. Not interested.

What's the difference between a Democratic Socialist and a National Socialist? Do they have a meme for that?
And one other question from this meme, if unions make private businesses more accountable, why do private businesses need customers? And who would make unions more accountable?

Not all that much, except the Democratic Socialist wants to have a different Santa Claus in charge every few years, picked by the populace (As long as they make the 'Right' choice, and disregarding the example of Barrabus), rather than letting one guy pick himself for life. They also tend to be less nationalistic, but that one's only a tendency, not a trait, and it's somewhat selectively applied.

So what does that make DUmbasses that want to be taken care of by the government so they can sit around and smoke weed all day long?
-
Democratic Socialism: All the slavery of regular Socialism, but with half the calories.
-
To be honest, it's not exactly slavery, so much as it is a glass ceiling for EVERYBODY (Except, of course, a political class).

I disagree. Any central planning economy begins from the premise that the citizen, his life, and his property are subordinate to the State- and that is a form of slavery, whether the massa is elected, appointed, or seizes control.

Progressives is my favorite because it's the perfect example of newspeak.

:whistling:
And for the misinformed millennial it is someone who accepts every friend request on Facebook. I only wish I were joking.

A Democrat Socialist is a Socialist Democrat.
-
A misnomer.

I don't think these idiots are true Socialists, in that they don't go all in for a centrally-planned economy (Neither did the Nazis, for that matter, the people who go that far would be the full-blown Communists or Marxist Socialists in the terms of the meme). What I take the 'Democratic Socialists' to mean is that they want government to provide all services from medical care to post-graduate education to utilities to everyone for 'Free,' but with some form of ultimate ceiling on income or ownership of stuff that is beyond what the majority of the population would ever reach even in an unrestricted economy, done mainly through tax law and policy. It's only similar to slavery for the percentage heavily affected by that ceiling; for everyone else who earns income or buys stuff, it just means having the living shit taxed out of their pay and/or purchases...very unpleasant, but not equivalent to slavery. Their model is the most nanny of the Euro nanny states.

What is a Democratic Socialist?
Thats easy, a democratic socialist is a collectivist communitarian asshole that wants to stomp individual liberties and take the citizenry in a direction that tens of millions don't want to go, at the expense of those that don't want to go both fiscally, and in terms of lost liberty. 'For the greater good.'
Compelled collectivism is among the worst evil ever devised by man.

What is a Democratic Socialist?
A repetitive redundancy.

My DUmb, uneducated daddy had a pretty good/simple idea of what they were. He said, "They want to penalize those that try so they can subsidize those that won't try."
Sometimes I think Daddy should have been a college professor.

OK Dummie... move to Venezuela. See your democratic socialism in action. Once you get there, stay there.

I think that's very close.

It will come right back to the Bourgeoisie and the proletariat.
