I wish online newspapers would stop allowing comments.
I live in the Atlanta metro area and went to the AJC online edition to catch up on today's developments. I was sickened to see some hateful comments made by assholes hiding behind screen names.
What can such ignorant (often illiterate) jerks possibly add to a news story? Why allow them to spew such ugliness? Who cares what they think?
I've been quite sad about President Carter's health problems, but was heartened by his grace and spirit during today's press conference. To think anyone would be mean and disrespectful at a time like this makes me lose faith in the human race.

Maybe you guys can make enormous statues of 0bama and Carter and toss us in camps when we fail to genuflect?

Well, I think it's only natural that people tend to be somewhat unwarm in remembering someone who was a really nasty person and lousy president.

I don't know that he was a nasty person, but CERTAINLY an absolutely lousy President.
That having been said, I wish him the best in these struggles. Gotta be rough for someone of his age to try to get through such a disease.

His wife was. Her comments, the next day after the election were essentially, the American people are ignorant. Nasty bitch.
Carter put on an, aw shucks Andy Taylor persona in public, but I heard he was a blame throwing ass like every (D)emocrat I have ever heard of.

I'm looking at a book on my bookshelf, right now, titled The Real Jimmy Carter, written by Steve Hayward (Regnery Press). It pretty much confirms what you say, and also tells just how dirty he could be in politics.

I need to kindle that. Hey, sure, to ascend to the heights of the Oval Office, there are things you have to do, but I don't remember any stories about nasty back-biting Reagan. All the SS tales I've heard, rate him far above any of the others and a genuinely nice and honestly funny man.
