While I was away on my pastoral internship, my family got a puppy. Her name is Emma, and she's an Australian Shepherd.

Sweet little thing and playful. She's quiet so my mom likes her.

Congratulations! She will bring joy, love and loyalty to your home.
enjoy!

Congrats on your new baby! My daughter had an Aussie/Pit mix. Smartest dog ever; seriously...darn thing knew what you were thinking and would react. If you were thinking about getting a drink of water, he would be to the sink before you got there. Kind, loving, devoted but very determined. Enjoy!!

We have an Aussie as well -- yours appears to be a tricolor. Ours is a blue merle with copper points.
Maya is a perpetual puppy. At about 8 years old, she behaves with exuberance and unbounded joy. Get ready for puppyhood with an Aussie. She will challenge you with her intellect and demand that you train her and keep her busy. Aussies are high energy dogs and need for that energy to be released.
They are delightful dogs and will win your hearts.

This is our Emma, 2 years old, a Pom-Chihuahua mix. She's about 8 lbs., loves to sit with me in my recliner, and aggrevate the shit outta Miss Chris.

What others have said! very trainable/intelligent & high energy. Strong herding instinct (ours used to "herd" our munchkins when they were playing in our backyard).

My daughter, or as Coach refers to her, "The Heiress," wants a puppy. I may cave, after buying gallons of Resolve spot carpet cleaner.

Lucky you! I have a 14 year old love of my life. Took her to the vet today and her heart is beating like the teenager she is in human years. Her lumps are non operable at her age and he wants me to give her carrots as a snack! No wonder she was showing him her teeth!

Our vet suggested substituting various vegetables for our 4-5 year old Beagle to keep her weight down. She weighs a solid 45 pounds. The problem is she likes vegetables, too.
Rice, broccoli, corn, carrots, green beans, cauliflower, you name it, she loves it. Some times she'd rather eat the vegetables than her dry dog food.

Emma is great though. She loves to play and the only time she barks is when she's playing.

Looks like a keeper. Dogs will always have your back and think you're the best. Now it's your job to try to be half as awesome as your dog thinks you are.
