Man, what a pathetically manipulative piece of trash!
Female boxer gets paralyzed from the neck down. Oh, boo hoo hoo! Then she develops bed sores. Oh, boo hoo hoo! Then her money-grubbing hillbilly family tries to steal her money. Oh, boo hoo hoo! Then she looses her leg to gangrene. Oh, boo hoo hoo!
Blah blah blah blah blah. All leading up to her death via euthanasia. We're supposed to feel bad for her and feel that euthanasia is the right thing to do because of all the horrible things that have happened.
And this garbage was awarded Oscars. Yeesh!
-
Bitch shoulda ducked...

At least the evil Estelle Getty wasn't in it. How bad could it be?

Oh come on ! It was the "Gone With the Wind of female boxer / euthanasia flicks.
(Line stolen from my favorite movie review ever. Regarding "Babe" it was said to be the 'Gone With the Wind' of talking pig flicks.)

I was telling my co-worker this morning about another Hilary Swank movie I saw last night (P.S. I Love You). She asked me, "Have you seen Million Dollar Baby yet?" I said no. I had heard early on what the subject matter was and knew I wouldn't care for it.
She replied, "Oh, you have to. It is WONDERFUL." ::)

now see... if you listened to Michael Medved, you'd have known it was a 'right to die' movie and not wasted your time :-)

I found a porno DVD stuffed inside the phonebook in my hotel room in El Segundo.
Odd, there was no DVD player in the room.
So that's where I left it...
-
The film is stupid as hell.
You want to watch a good boxing film?
Watch Cinderella man. Now thats a good boxing movie!

Hey, the Diamondbacks are on life-support and they don't want to die yet. :uhsure:

I seem to recall an old, obscure grammer rule I learned in English class.
Oh yeah, here it is:
The word GOOD and the phrase BOXING MOVIE should never be used in the same sentence together. The one is mutually exclusive of the other.

J, I am a Dbacks fan too.
People act like we should be ashamed of liking the Dbacks.
But its not like they are the Tigers.....

OMG...can't anybody read a book are watch a movie for just entertainment anymore. Always with the "read between the lines", got to understand "the hidden political agenda". My goodness, next thing you know, I won't even be able to watch Bugs Bunny or the Road Runner cartoons without looking for the underlying "The Man is out to get me" meanings.
BTW: The wife and son rented "Million Dollar Baby", It was OK, not great, not bad, just OK...........at least it was until ya'll started filling me in on the deep, dark, subtle, political, brainwashing attempts in it. Beginning to sound like a DUmmie troofer convention around here.

Oh, no. I knew what the movie was about. I just figured that since I wasn't paying money to see it that I'd satisfy my curiosity.

He mocks us because he cares. And because he's upset that his precious Phillies aren't do all that much better than the D-backs. :-)

:cheersmate: I thought I was the only one here who could watch a movie and actually enjoy it without ruining it with politics. I never liked the whole "DOn't go see this movie because {add liberal actors name here} is in it and he's a moonbat,or a communist,or gay,or whatever. Newsflash folks! Hollywood and most of the entertainment industry in this country are liberal. I'd also have to stop listening to most of my favorite bands if I chose them by their political leanings. :whatever:

Exactly. With the latest Superman flick, everyone got up in arms about them dropping the "American way" thing. Even got me so pissed to say I'd not watch the movie. Turns out it was a damn good movie. And when you watch the context of how they left it out, you actually gotta be looking to be offended to have it offend you.
Sure, Hollywood does try to shove politics down your throat now and then, but sometimes you gotta just sit back and enjoy a movie for what it is. A movie.

We start to become just like the moonbats when we start boycotting something because it strays from our worldview. Are we that weak minded that we can't watch what amounts to 2.5 hours of a fictional piece of entertainment without it brain washing us into supporting the liberal agenda! If thats the case with some of us,then some of us didn't hold those conservative values as close to our hearts and minds as we believed.

My wife and I enjoyed Million Dollar Baby, we just disregard the LibTard messages in Hollywood movies nowadays.
The one thing I can't understand though is why do people think Hillary Swank is so beautiful? Maybe she was on the road to attractive at one time but made a wrong turn somewhere. Like that Sarah Jessica Parker chick.

I haven't seen this movie and probably wont but if you really want to see Oscar nominated/winning trash you can't do worse than Babel.
I'm going to spoil it right now: It is about really stupid people who make really stupid choices and then wonder why bad things happen to them. And America is always the bad guy. For like 2 and 1/2 hours or something like that. The first ten minutes seemed like two torturous hours.

At least the evil Estelle Getty wasn't in it. How bad could it be?
:bird: :bird: :bird: :bird: :bird:
If she was alive, Estelle Getty would kick your ass for that -- and no way would she have lost a boxing match. Her filthy trash-talking alone would guarantee her win.

I thought he was really good in "O Brother Where Art Thou." It worked so well because his character was supposed to be an arrogant prick. The director must have told him "Just be yourself, George." Other than that small exception, I totally agree. :cheersmate:

My favorite exchange from that movie:
Pomade Vendor: I can get the part from Bristol. It'll take two weeks, here's your pomade.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Two weeks? That don't do me no good.
Pomade Vendor: Nearest Ford auto man's Bristol.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Hold on, I don't want this pomade. I want Dapper Dan.
Pomade Vendor: I don't carry Dapper Dan, I carry Fop.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Well, I don't want Fop, ******* it! I'm a Dapper Dan man!
Pomade Vendor: Watch your language, young feller, this is a public market. Now if you want Dapper Dan, I can order it for you, have it in a couple of weeks.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!
