Title: Tobin primitive proves why he's a DUmmie
Post by: BattleHymn on August 04, 2015, 09:20:59 PM
Yeah, that's a great answer!  Go for it!  Don't forget to report back to the DUmp tomorrow night about the results.

Interview Question

If you asked me what my greatest weakness was and I said, "My wife's lasagna," how would you take that answer?

It's a question that gets asked during a lot of interviews and there doesn't seem to be a really good answer for it. They're asking you to say something negative about yourself which seems totally contrary to the mind-set you have to have for an interview. You're there to make a good impression not talk about your problems.

I have an interview tomorrow and I'm seriously thinking about giving that lasagna answer if they ask that question.

1. That lasagna answer is hilarious and might even make the interviewer go onto the next question. n/t

4. I usually say, "I can't answer that...

...without knowing the purpose of the question." If pressed further with something like, "You need to answer the question." I might respond with, "I did answer the question." Or, "If you could highlight the reason behind the question or the area of expertise you'd like discussed, I could attempt to answer."

IMHO, it's a booby trap question that has numerous paths depending on how the candidate perceives the problem. Maybe they will betray some flaw or insecurity that could be useful to rule out the candidate. Some answers can show how candidates deal with stress or think on their feet. Some answers might reveal if you're problem solver, a salesman, a teacher...

Dumb asses -- the question is a Kobayashi Maru to see if you have sufficient introspection.

I think the proper answer is "I tend to over-analyze. I know my gut response is right but I double-check it against known facts and inferences.  This may seem hesitant but I personally feel thoughtfulness is better than impulse."

The asshat doesn't seem to understand it is HE who is asking for a job and being interviewed.  The result from that smart-ass answer?  NEXT!

I think he should do it.  The only thing he's probably lacking is Calpig telling him it's a great idea!

You know, Toby-tard, it's a wonder that you don't have that 6 figure executive position you so desperately want...   :whatever:

Coming from someone who conducts interviews (and asks this very question), a DUmbass answer like that would wrap that interview up rather quickly with your resume finding a new home in the round file.

And, really, DUmbass, who asks for job interview advice on a website full of beggars?  That alone should qualify you to remain unemployed.

Yeah?  And how's that worked out for you, DUmbass?  With a disposition like that, it's a wonder you and Toby-tard aren't employees of the month.   :whatever:

An answer like that to me would get your interview ended faster than Toby's, and an personal invitation to never come back through the door.

When they ask you what your greatest weakness is, just be honest and tell them "I'm a liberal and thinking doesn't come naturally to me. In fact, it doesn't come at all. Do you want fries with that?"

He omitted key parts of the question:

"Tobin, we've seen your resume, your posts on DU, and we've seen your collection of overalls. Clearly, you are a completely worthless waste of skin, feckless and weak in every way. But we were curious, you know, in a slowing-down-at-a-car-accident way: what's your GREATEST weakness? Because we have a pool going."

So it's a condescending jerk even when it's asking someone else for a job? I would automatically put this one in the "do not call back if this was the last unemployed person on the planet" file.

For the kind of employer who would hire DUmmy Tobin S., it's highly unlikely an interview would be part of the process.

They would only look for a clear drug test and no violent felonies.

Despite his associate's degree in creative writing, Tobin S. is still a DUmmy with repeated episodes of severe mental illness.

His best bet is to check in with Goodwill.

I discovered a great way to answer that, having been on both sides of the conference table.
.
You admit that something, while being a weakness, and elaborate it BACK into your favor as a strength.  Mine, given my chosen & educated profession...is that I occasionally am too much of a perfectionist.  However, I have learned to recognize whether worrying about a missing $20 or rather immaterial item is that significant in the grand scheme of things. It could easily waste my valuable and company's valuable time.

So there is a little hint for you lurking DUmmies.

Can you imagine how difficult that question would be for nadin?

I guess she might say that sometimes she doubts her wisdom, while in fact she's never been wrong.

Nads' greatest weakness is always whatever chair she happens to be sitting in at the moment.
