'Cool kids' can go on to become losers in later life, study finds

Being the "cool kid" might seem ideal at school but it can land you in difficulties later on in life, according to a new study.
The work, "Whatever Happened to the Cool Kids?", was published in the journal Child Development by researchers at the University of Virginia, and looked at the lives of more than 180 teenagers in America over a decade.
But the results might not be to the liking of those who want to rule the roost at their schools.
I am sure we all remember the cool kids in our days and how they turned out.

On a related topic, I heard something Friday that "bullies" end up happier in life. Because a pecking order is actually a good thing, rather than these stupid anti bullying laws & regulations that have been passed.

Heh. I was the smallest kid (male) in my class. I got into several fights. Won some, lost some.
I grew up. Went to a reunion in the early 90's. I was 6' 1", 225#'s of solid muscle from working iron for 6 years.
The 'cool' guys from high school really didn't know what to think. I was bigger than all but one of them ... And I still had all my hair! LOL

If anyone needs any proof of that, look no further than DU. They are the most miserable, venal, unhappy assholes and scrunts on the planet. They almost all of them admit to being bullied when they were kids.

When my folks moved us from the city to the burbs 32 years ago, it was a strange transition.
There was this little damn runt of a kid who was a bully. I had not yet gotten to my current height of 6'2'. Got sick of his mouthy bullshit, told him let's go fight then. We met in a buddies backyard not far from junior high. I broke his nose & beat the snot out of him in about 2 minutes.
No one ever messed with me again. Sure, occasional teasing in high school. But that is allowed. Not crap you need to go reporting to the principal or whomever.
