Prediction: Tomorrow, Limbaugh goes to bat defending Trump, GOP base quickly falls in line

They'll have their talking points and will be told what to think and how to react.

He takes a small hit, but the overall loss is negligible. Rush and his audience still hate McCain with a passion, hilariously believing he's a lib'rul RINO for daring to run against Dubya in 2000. Rush will assure them it's OK to trash a veteran in this case and that it wasn't that big of a deal.

All the FOX folks and rightwingers criticizing Trump now haven't got the memo from Rush yet since it's a weekend. This all blows over, as far as GOP voters are concerned and Trump only falls to second, if even that.

Trump should apologize on when Senator McCain apologizes for continually voting against vertereans bills and bills that cut active duty benefits.

The Republican Party called and asked for a donation.  I told them that I would consider it if I got the latest talking points.  The lady said that they didn't have any and suggested I call the NRA>

Primitives and their predictions. Yeah, that's something to hang your hat on.  :whatever:

Look primitive, Rush doesn't do endorsements for candidates.

Trump has hit on a topic that holds some meaning, and that's the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border, that they're able to cross virtually uncontested by law enforcement who have had their hands tied by Dear Leader's administration, and how dangerous this policy has become to the country as a whole both economically and in increasing crime statistics. Suddenly making them into citizens isn't going to alleviate the problem.

They're breaking the law and the law needs to be enforced. That's never been, and will never be, a talking point.

IF the reports I've seen of what Trump said are accurate, complete, and in-context, I disagree with him. McCain and other POWs endured great hardship, and were heroic for that. That was four decades ago.

Since at least 2000 McCain has been a vindictive, compromising Crap-Weasel! I don't think Trump would be any better, and possibly worse. So this conservative is no Trump fan, contrary to that DU-member's fantasy-stereotype.

Hmmm, judging by the "accuracy" of the DUmbasses and their predictions of mass shooters being Tea Party members, I think Rush and the GOP base will do nothing of the sort the DUmbasses think...er, feel, they will do.

Trump is a sideshow who was bound to self-destruct sooner or later, but his no-BS stance on immigration struck a chord that may doom Jeb.  I hope.

Posted either here or at CU that Trump can actually do a lot more good than harm.  He will bring up issues & attack Republicans on specific things.  Most weak-kneed politicians wouldn't.

He'll never win, but can help guide the discussion in the proper way at times, IMHO.

I heard what Trump said, in context. He was speaking extemporaneously, and wasn't neat in how he said what he said, but the MSM have left out an important part of what he said, a part that falsifies what the MSM have claimed. Big (Yaaaawwwwwwwwn ...) non-shock. That only has bearing on my first sentence above. The first sentence of my second paragraph is a bit under-stated.

Everything I have seen from McCain since..... oh, 1980, makes me believe the Vets backing Trump are correct.

His Naval career of trading on being the grandson of one Admiral and the son of another - both with impeccable careers - leaves much to be desired.  Hero has become a ridiculously overused term and I don't think I'll apply it to Juan McLame.

But for having endured brutal captivity John McCain would have had an unremarkable military career, in contrast with his Father and Grandfather. I wish the effort to Primary McCain (2010?) had succeeded.
