Clinton administration praise for genocidal Suharto: "He's our kind of guy"

This is from 2008 as Hillary Clinton was running for President. I wonder how DUmmies would react to this one now. The Clinton Administration supported Suharto, who wiped out the largest Communist Party outside of China and Soviet Union in 1965 to 1966, PKI. Indonesia became a symbol of economic success as one of the Asian Tigers.

"The U.S. was still training the most repressive elements of Indonesia's security forces as Suharto's rule was collapsing in 1998, and the Clinton administration had established especially close relations with the dictator ("our kind of guy," according to a senior administration official quoted in the New York Times, 10/31/95)."

I'll remember that the next time James carville acts like Hugo Chavez (who, while questionable in his consolidation of power, is neither a threat or a butcher in the least)is the next Hitler

Survivors describe mass killings under Indonesian dictator Suharto

BLITAR, Indonesia (AP) - Hiding out in the dense, humid jungle, Markus Talam watched Indonesian soldiers herd manacled prisoners from trucks, line them up and mow them down with round after round of automatic weapons fire.

It was 1968, and the killings were part of a final offensive by forces under Gen. Suharto to wipe out the communist party and secure his position as leader of Indonesia, now the world's most populous Muslim nation.

"They gunned them down and dumped their bodies in a mass grave dug by other prisoners. I remember the sound of the guns clearly: tat-tat, tat-tat, tat-tat ... over and over again," said Talam, 68, who was later jailed for 10 years after being named a leftist sympathizer.

Suharto, who died on Sunday at a Jakarta hospital, seized control of the military in 1965 and ruled the country for 32 years, suppressing dissent with force and supported by an American government at the height of the Cold War.

1. The fine thing about Edwards & Obama is that they have no history
of anything at all as far as foreign policy. No experience that could be twisted one way or the other.
We know about Obama now.

13. I'm kicking too
and for the same reasons. The passes people on this site give to murderers just because they happen to be Democrats would be really offensive if I wasn't sure it was down to ignorance not selective outrage.

So many people seem completely unaware of the trail of blood emanating from EVERY President's administration.

Empire can only be sustained via theft, many people will need to be killed before we are able to steal from them.

WTH?!

Was Tsaritsa Chill in high school when Suharto preemptively purged the Communists?

And by the time of the 1995 comment from the annoymorous denizen of Foggy Bottom - assuming the NYT didn't make it up - Tsaritsa Chill was hanging condoms on Christmas trees and licking her wounds from the defeat of HillaryCare.
