19. It depends what we are willing to tolerate. I truly believe that if ISIS built gas chambers and started herding Christians in Jews into them and filmed it on YouTube, I believe the US would do nothing. It really has gotten that bad.
I believe some things can't be tolerated. I would use massive force. Hundreds or thousands of airstrikes and helicopter strikes every day.
Some things you just can't tolerate.

In the case of the OP, we have isolated incidents of Muslims targeing gays in the U.S. Is this motivation for ripping into the entire Muslim religion? Not yet. You see, what differentiates this from the Memories Pizza incident is that the state government of Indiana had just passed a law making discrimination legal if you could drum up some religious reason for it -- I guess the preference would be a Christian motivation, but that wasn't clear. At the moment, the Muslims are not passing laws in the US legalizing this behavior. As soon as the Muslims as a group come out and start attempting to amend the Constitution and passing other laws discriminating against specific groups, then we'll have an issue. In the mean time, this is strictly a Christian problem in the US -- Geller be damned.
By the way, the closest thing you'll get to a consensus about this from the left is that any organized religion that hides behind its dogma to justify hate really, really sucks. It doesn't matter what religion that might be.
Carl, I've come to realize that the overlap between what you actually know and what you think you know is very slight.
DU and the left in general are not anywhere near a consensus on how they feel about any religion -- Christianity, Islam, Judaism, whatever. Can you find people at DU who fit the description you gave? Sure. You could state exactly the opposite and be just as (in)correct.
