OP is about half million acres of Alaskan wilderness wildfires.

1. As the ex-gov of Alaska said: drill, baby, drill.
And as the guy who beat her team, just because they were so irresponsible, has done: frack, baby, frack.

2. Also huge fires in Siberia. From April 2015.

Climate change is real in right-wing-land. Maybe this will finally mean we get to do something about it.

7. Where is Inhofe's snowball when we need it?
Joking of course. I wonder what Inhofe thinks about this. He probably will say it is just part of God's plan.
Makes me sick. I have grandchildren. All those trees that took many years to grow. It is very sad.

8. Natural cycle.
Of course.
Then some long rant about how fires make stronger ecosystems or some nonsense.
**** science! What does it know?

6. I am so sorry for everyone suffering from this.
The hard-headness of the deniers is unfathomable. It's not as though this doesn't affect them, their kids and their grandkids as much as it affects us and our loved ones.
Please stay safe.

10. I'm glad it doesn't seem to be an imminent threat to you, but my heart
breaks for others. And also for humankind.

20. Hmmm . . . could this be some of that global whatchamacallit the libruls always harp on?
This is how the right will come to accept global warming. They never believe anything until it hits home and in this case it appears it's burning home.

21. Yes, and then will come the "response", feeble and halting and oh-so-late . . .
If anyone would like a preview of what it will look like, I suggest a glance through political and public responses across the EU as to how to handle Greece.
You know, rational, sensible and well-thought-out, though on a far larger scale and over a much longer period of time.
wut?

29. Freaking wow!
It's likely to be the hottest June on record on Jamaica as well.
Climate change is real and it is serious.

30. This is nuts...
I really wish there were a hell for people like Palin in Inohue (the jackass for Oklahoma) who deny this shit and thereby stymie any action we should have already been taking.

Apparently forest fires were unheard of before the latter half of the 20th century. Who knew...

Lunatic cultists.

Every summer its like this..."OMG!! Its HOT! Global Warming!!!"
Every winter its like this..."OMG!!! Its COLD! Climate Change!!!"
DUmmies are soooo stupid.
-
Do the DUmmies live in mud huts and eat raw food?....No?.... then they are part of the problem.....if there is a problem,
DUmmies demand that government give them a higher standard of living all the while condemning those that work for a higher standard.

Well, more specifically, from January, 1981 onward, IYKWIM. With an accellerant event in January, 2001.

Ahem;
it has been National Park Service policy since 1968 to let lightning fires burn unless human life or property will be endangered. In our lower elevation sequoia-mixed conifer forests, however, a considerable fire hazard has built up because of the exclusion of natural fire during the past half century. Hence a program of prescribed burning has been adopted as the technique for restoring fire to this ecosystem. In order to effectively carry out this management objective,
What then does fire do in the giant sequoia-mixed conifer forest? Seven functions of fire seem particularly significant. Fire in this forest (1) prepares a seedbed; (2) cycles nutrients; (3) sets back succession in certain relatively small areas; (4) provides conditions which favor wildlife; (5) provides a mosaic of age classes and vegetation types; (6) reduces numbers of trees susceptible to attack by insects and disease; and (7) reduces fire hazards.

One more;
Prescribed Fire
Did you know fire can be good for people and the land? After many years of fire exclusion, an ecosystem that needs periodic fire becomes unhealthy. Trees are stressed by overcrowding; fire-dependent species disappear; and flammable fuels build up and become hazardous. The right fire at the right place at the right time:

DUmmies can't see the forest for the trees, but that's OK, they like trees.

32. Condo development!
:banghead:
I think the DUmmie has a point. We should stop all new housing development of any kind -- like Seattle. Then try to find an apartment, much less a home or condo.
The DUmmies would have to sublet a refrigerator box under the freeway.
Of course, with no jobs, they would not be able to afford even that.

I put this in another thread when the dummies mentioned Carlin. Seems appropriate to put it here too.

But, what about Tierra del Fuego?

Central Illinois barely broke 70 degrees today. The last several years have seen cooler and wetter than average summers and normal but drier winters.
-
Since the so-called 'Global warming deniers' (Or to be more flexible in case the warming doesn't pan out, 'Global climate change deniers') are completely out of power with the Oministration and its EPA firmly in the hands of the overzealous fanatic affirmers of whatever-the-Hell-the-flavor-of-the-week-is, it's hard to see how it could possibly be the fault of the deniers.

Teh gNads, has already packed the good rig, and will crunch the story post haste.

I need to link to DUmmie posts on DU when I start threads on the great glow bull warming swindle.

Damn you and your logic and facts! How dare you make me feel stupid for whining about the forest burning down! (/DUmode off)

Rabbits started forest fires to kill ptarmigans and humans.
The updrafts created by the fire should be enough to lift the ptarmigan so that he can soar to the heavens.
So what we have learned is that the bunny instead of being evil, is actually angelic.

I think the biggest problems are acid rain and Alar on apples.

Fires like this have never happened before. It's all the fault of Palin and fracking!

You're so old fashioned! Acid rain and Alar are so 1980s ... along with the ozone hole ...

You stupid global warming deniers are murdering Alaska!
So kill it already so we can drill for oil in ANWAR. Geez!

Hey, they've burned millions of acres where a conservative would have gotten the job done with a quart of gas and no more than a half acre of trees lost. Now who is more concerned about the environment?

Not only that, the Libs & Progs would've spent several billion $$, while conservatives would've found a pyro who would've paid to get to do the job!
