My wife was talking yesterday to a Greek business associate...

...who's heading back for the referendum.

His estimate: 70% will support the bailout deal.

Syriza is -not- that popular, and won only 36% of the vote.

Well that bouncy was short and sweet. Learn from it DUmmies.

You realize that the chances of that actually happening--the second sentence, that is--are right around 0.000000000000000 percent, right?

Well now, remember when the anti-austerity Greeks beat the austerity Greeks, and the primitives were all agog and excited, because the greedy austerity Greeks couldn't deprive the Greeks of all their social services.

The primitives raved about this--austerity wasn't necessary after all; drachmas could fall from the heavens in unlimited torrents, without any cost.

Yeah, sure.

My wife was talking yesterday to a Greek business associate...

A higher level bouncy than d-man's wife stories.

Let's hope this Greek kerbunkle doesn't affect the supply of Grecian Formula.

I think that's the only thing we get from Greece.

I think that's the only thing we get from Greece.

The day after the last elections in Greece--it was a few months ago--the primitives had a thread celebrating the defeat of the austerity Greeks, which provided a classic textbook example of the way primitives think, or rather, don't think.

The primitives thought that Greece could just go on, everybody on the dole, and there'd be no piper to pay.  In other words, no consequences to wild and reckless spending, to orgiastic giveaways.

Well, it looks like the piper's on his way now, and he'd better be paid.

Reality is there is no way that Greece can repay the multiples of their total yearly GDP that have already been loaned/gifted to them.

The Germans should have cut them off two bailouts ago. It would have been better for all concerned.

The Keynesians still want to pour money down the Greek sinkhole, in the hope that the hole will be filled in.

It ain't gonna happen.

It's all Greek to them.

I wouldn't bet on the forces of sanity winning that referendum, if there were that many of them, Greece wouldn't be where it is now.  Of course we'd be in the same boat in 20 years if the Dems got a stranglehold on the Presidency, so it's at least instructive to watch.

Well if the GOPe gets control it will be 21.3 years. Not much of a difference.

The NYT put out a very clever, reasoned, and fully self aware tweet that went; "Trillions Spent, but Crises Like Greece's Persist."

If you starrt out with 1+1=POTATO, nothing else no matter how well reasoned will be complete shit.

Which, interestingly, will be the value of the Drachma to the USD or Euro when Greece leaves the EU.

Remember: do it the Greek way, come from behind!

They are literally demanding that people keep showering them with money with no hope of even a neutral return on the investment.
No mentally mature person could expect such a thing but a 5 year old would.
Pretty much sums up what a leftist is.

Greece is the start of the domino effect. Even if they negotiated now, it makes EU and Greece look bad and weak.

This welfare state in Greece is one giant charade waiting to come crashing down.

Greece is like Italy and Egypt.

It's been all downhill for the last 2500 years.

Looking like we are in the same boat no matter what according to the CBO.

An excerpt:

"In 25 years, U.S. debt levels are projected to reach 156 percent of the economy, which Greece had in 2012. That projection comes from the Congressional Budget Office's alternative scenario, which is more realistic than its standard fiscal projection about which spending programs Congress will extend into the future.

If Congress leaves the federal budget on autopilot, debt levels will soar. Instead, spending must be reined in to avoid a Greek-style meltdown."

During my spring cleaning, I took down the Venetian blinds, and put up the Grecian blinds.
