Rainbow logos? Check your Bibles, you silly people.

The Bible: That's the book you claim to follow but haven't read. You can learn about the symbolism of the rainbow in there. Ask your preacher to open the book to that page and read it to you. Maybe your minister will know where to find it, if he or she has bothered to read it. Covenants aren't just about keeping brown people out of your neighborhood, either. It's amazing what you could learn.

Now, I'm an atheist and don't believe any of that stuff, but I do know where you can learn about the rainbow as a symbol. Check it out, and then follow up by reading the book of Matthew, too. Lots of stuff in there you don't know, too.

Seeya!

I would like to suggest to mineraldude that he takes the time to read the Bible as well. What I gleaned  from his post was that he may have read it but he certainly didn't understand it.

Exactly.

They stole the rainbow as a symbol, so somehow we shouldn't be offended by the rainbow symbol because it's in the Bible?

So God renewing his covenant with his chosen people after he destroyed the world by flood because the people in it were too wicked and immoral (i.e. practicing, oh i dont know.... SODOMY perhaps?!) is somehow gay-friendly now?

The swastika was a Christian symbol until it was co-opted by the Nazis.

So everyone should be OK with that symbol.

As non sequitors go, this one was awesome. God designated the rainbow as the sign of His promise not to judge the whole earth by worldwide flood. God did that a little bit before the gays adopted it as there symbol of something or other. MM doesn't believe that there is a God Who created to optical properties of light and rain water, so I suppose he wouldn't care to understand what is going on there in Genesis ..... Genesis ....... Genesis ...... isn't that the book where it says that God created humans male and female? Where it says that God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman?

Yeah, MM wasn't paying attention much if he ever actually read the book of Genesis. Maybe he should worry more about the things he himself does (or doesn't) than about hypocrisies he imagines committed by people he neither understands nor cares to.

I just a bit concerned by MineralSpiritsMan. I've encounter people who have NEVER opened a Bible who know more about what is really in it than MineralMan. I don't follow him often because of that disgusting thing he sometimes does so I don't know a lot about him. Is he really as stupid as he puts forth? Or does he just act like he's more stupid than a brain dead snail in order to fit in at the DU?

I always thought it was an ancient American Indian symbol.
At least that version gives it a bit of panache that the libs would swill.

Do you know what else Genesis said?

'It ain't no fun, bein' an illegal alien.'

Profound, man.

The symbol of the Swastika and its 12,000-year-old history

The swastika is a symbol used by of one of the most hated men on Earth, a symbol that represents the slaughter of millions of people and one of the most destructive wars on Earth.  But Adolf Hitler was not the first to use this symbol. In fact, it was used as a powerful symbol thousands of years before him, across many cultures and continents.

For the Hindus and Buddhists in India and other Asian countries, the swastika was an important symbol for many thousands of years and, to this day, the symbol can still be seen in abundance - on temples, buses, taxis, and on the cover of books. It was also used in Ancient Greece and can be found in the remains of the ancient city of Troy, which existed 4,000 years ago.

The ancient Druids and the Celts also used the symbol, reflected in many artefacts that have been discovered. It was used by Nordic tribes and even early Christians used the Swastika as one of their symbols, including the Teutonic Knights, a German medieval military order, which became a purely religious Catholic Order. But why is this symbol so important and why did Adolf Hitler decide to use it?

The word ‘swastika’ is a Sanskrit word (‘svasktika’) meaning ‘It is’, ‘Well Being’, ‘Good Existence, and ‘Good Luck’. However, it is also known by different names in different countries - like ‘Wan’ in China, ‘Manji’ in Japan, ‘Fylfot’ in England, ‘Hakenkreuz’ in Germany and ‘Tetraskelion’ or ‘Tetragammadion’ in Greece.

Nice strawman, DUmbass.  Don't set it on fire later when you light the bong...    :whatever:

How did Genesis pronounce his name.
Did it sound anything like Phil Collins ?
