You can now have razor-blades delivered to your home! What a ... perfectly unnecessary service.

It's not the process of cutting hair that makes razor-blades blunt. Hair is far too soft for that.

It's corrosion due to the water you leave on your razor-blades after using them. If you leave your razor-blades lying around while wet, they become blunt.

I shake my razor a few times really hard to get rid of all the drops. Sometimes I wipe the blades with a small piece of toilet-paper. I use cheap razor-blades and they easily last weeks and months.

The only response thus far's from the tightwad pal of the big guy, the primitive with a sensitive bottom:

1. I have been told to put them in alcohol

and then they will dry really fast since alcohol evaporates quickly. I have not tried that but it might be easier than wiping them off each time.

Modern razor blades are made from corrosion-resistant carbide steel. Shake or not, it makes no difference.
