The DUmp has a new firearms expert!!
For too long, DUmmy DUmotex (developer of the .22 cal. anti-tank rocket) has carried the burden of being the DUmmies' go-to authority.
Noob DUmmy CajunBlazer has taken small-arms expertise to a new level:

My Case Against Assault Weapons
One of my responsibilities when I was Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) was be ready to deploy to a forward operating base in the event of a nuclear war to turn around B-52 bombers when they returned from their bombing missions over the USSR. To be ready to perform that duty, my men and I had to stay proficient on our personal weapons. Officers were assigned a 0.38 caliper pistol called the Colt Combat Masterpiece, but I manage to also get certified on the AR-15 (the semiautomatic version of the M16 assault rifle).
I weep for the fool who faces a DUmmy armed with a 0.38 caliper, or a military-issued AR-15.
I originally thought that an AR-15 would make a good deer rifle, it is short, light and relative accurate over long distances. I changed my mind when I saw a demonstration of the weapon's firepower one day. The target on this occasion was a 55 gallon steel drum filled with water which was use to demonstrate the stopping power the AR-15. When the drum was hit from fifty yards, the bullet made a small hole at the entry point, but on exit it made a hole in the back of the steel drum much bigger than the size of my fist. The original ammunition of the AR-15 had a 5.56mm (0.223 caliber -slightly larger than a 22) bullet propelled by a massive amount of gun powder. It makes a small hole on entry, but the projectile is unstable so it tumbles when it enters flesh and is designed to make a massive exit wound.
Thus I determined that the AR-15 was totally useless as a hunting rifle because it would destroy much of the meat of a targeted animal.
I shudder every time I am reminded that military assault weapons such as the AR-15 can be bought by just about anyone in our country and can thus easily fall in the hands of a homicidal maniacs or home grown terrorists whose objectives are to kill the maximum number of people before they are themselves shot.
So assault weapons have only one practical purpose, killing multiple people in a very short period of time. Why in the world would we want just about anyone in the general public to have access to such powerful weapons.

This DUmmy is clearly a firearms expert.
The .223 Remington is the most powerful weapon known to man, blowing through 55-gal. barrels full of water, with its massive powder charge of maybe 25 grains.

1. Sadly, the gun's ability to inflict major damage and destroy internal organs is what attracts yahoos
to the dang things. If not, folks could target shoot and plink with a pellet gun.

4. You sound like an Air Force officer.
(That's a joke)
Another expert prefers the .303 version:

9. Welcome to DU,
and just for the record, I disagree with your post, the AR platform is a great platform for hunting rifles, it can be had in .303 which is a great caliber for hunting, and the .223 is great for small game hunting.

That said, very few handguns pack the killing power of an assault rifle and I have never seen handgun yet that with a clip capable of handling more than 13 rounds.
Uh-oh...

24. I may not have seen one fired at a drum of water
but simple logic dictates if a round can't penetrate plastic after 12 inches of water, it will not blow a hole in a steel drum after 22 inches of water.
I have seen M-16s fired at things like wood, concrete, steel, humans. All of the evidence I have seen leads me to the conclusion your story is physically impossible.

88. You know how else the story is bullshit? The AF never used a "semi-auto AR-15"
They used the AR-15, all right-the fully automatic precursor to the M-16
The OP is claiming to have been "certified" on a weapon that was never used by the Air Force

37. .223/5.56mm rounds won't penetrate a steel drum full of water while leaving a fist-sized exit hole
This DUmmy shoots running coyotes at 300 yards:

28. And coyote
We use the AR-15 platform for coyote hunting. They are really bad here and are killing livestock and pets.
They hunt in packs and when that group comes out in a field they never stand still. There'll be 10 running around. That's why we use a 30 round magazine. The distances are usually 300 yards out and the 5.56 mm round is very accurate with low recoil.
Pineapple head is also a firearms expert:

1The DUmb**** may be talking about the Smith & Wesson Model 15 revolver, in .38 Special caliber. S&W called that model the Combat Masterpiece, and it was issued to USAF Security Police and Air Police. To my knowledge, it was never issued with calipers.
2I got nothin' on this. The DUmb**** is lying, and/or an idiot. I vote for "and".

The New York State Police went from the Glock 17 to the Glock 37 (.45 Glock Auto Pistol, a cut-down .45 ACP) a few years ago. 17 rounds in the magazine to 10. :banghead: :censored: :argh:

I'm surprised there are that many Pro-gun Dummies.

So, there are firearms experts at DU?

How the **** can you "agrees" with anything past how to fill out a 1349?

Hi5, the last time this Oxygen-thieving DUche touched a weapon during his 'alleged'USAF career probably was Basic training. And I BET he was a Recycle through qualification as well.

Uuuuuuuhhh.. NO Duche, just no.. Your reasoning for why the AR-15 is a poor hunting rifle using M855 green tip is wrong. The terminal ballistics of the M855 hitting a target at 300 meters (normal max range of targets on a qualfication range) is penetration of 6-9 inches of tissue (out the back side of most of your terrorists) before it starts to yaw, unless the shot was a high yaw impact, in which case it could turn much more rapidly.
It is the turning internally, causing the large permanent wound channel and fragmentation of the bullet that causes good terminal effects on target. The M855 is NOTORIOUS for through shots on actual tissue. That means that there is no major transfer of kinetic energy to the target, and no 'knockdown' effects on target.
Now granted, this is not the 55-grain M193 bullet that I assume this DUche is talking about. I heard that the original AR-15 had better terminal performance allegedly due to a lower twist rate (1:14), as opposed to the modern M4 (1:7), but still.
5.56 mm with a good Nosler ballistic tip gives good terminal effects on target, at ranges from 100-600 meters, depending on what you are hunting. But I have never, NEVER seen an M4/M16 get the kind of effects this DUche claims he saw in my 18 years in the Army as an INFANTRYMAN, not some USAF CLERK. Maybe you should have practiced shot placement a little more there, DUche.

Yup he's referring to the Model 15.
Only airmen that had them in SAC were the Elite Guards.
The only other users of this particular side arm were the SP's.
They certainly didn't issue them ass clowns like this.
And nothing in anything I know of or have ever read about indicates that Colt ever sold the AR-15 to the USAF as anything but the M-16.

Standard issue magazines for the M9 is 15 rounds.

As GOBUCKS says, 'DUmmies lie, all the time they lie".
I wonder what the hydrostatic effects of said round are on the target, and how--or if, depending on the impact velocity--they contribute to wound channels, via temporary stretch cavities. If you want to see how scallops cut into a solid copper .380 projectile do this, go to YouTube and search for 'Lehigh Defense.' They fire these things from a Glock 42 and . . . Let's just say that the Glock 42 shouldn't be able to penetrate 22-gauge sheet metal then penetrate 19 inches of ballistic gelatin.

The M193 55-grain projectile is the same round that was used in Vietnam. If it had that kind of terminal performance, the war in Vietnam might have been quite different.

I shot a bucket once with a 45/70 325 grain hollow point. It did not make a hole half that big. I shot a deer with the same round at about 20 yards and the exit wound was not that large either.
-
The 5.56/.223 is a round noted for its inability to penetrate anything harder than JellO without breaking up. The M855 round is marginally better at sticking together, by virtue of weighing about 10 percent more, spinning twice as fast, having a piece of steel that doesn't deform easily in the core, but it still sucks at penetration compared to any mainstream .30-ish calibre battle rifle or assault rifle FMJ round. There is no way in Hell that demo actually happened as described, the only way anything remotely like that could occur would be if the round entered above the water level and the trashed remains of the bullet battered a hole in the other side, aided by the concave nature of the back side of the drum's inner wall relative to the incidence of the round, with any water being in the bottom of the drum just to keep it in place.
I'll give the pro-gun DUmmie a pass on that .303 AR, I assume it was just a typo for .308.
-
Did the DUchebag use a 0.38 caliper drum or disc brake pistol?
OTOH this is pretty masterful moling.
-
A 5.56/.223 wouldn't make that size exit hole shooting it into a barrel WITHOUT water, much less full of water. That's why > < was all I could muster at first.

I wonder if this is how the old saying, "Like shooting fish in a barrel" comes from. If the barrel is full of water and the fish is at the bottom of the barrel, hitting the fish is damn near impossible.

I wonder if any shoulder-fired weapon could do that. I guess maybe a .50 cal., but DUmp democrats for some reason assign supernatural power to the .223. To a DUmmy the only thing more powerful is an AK-47.
I wish nadin had chimed in to set things straight.
